Booked a WL Std View Room - What locations should I request?

I have stayed at WL before, but have never booked a Standard View before. Since we haven't really used the balcony very much in previous trips, we thought we'd save some money this time.

I understand these rooms are generally over the lobby. Is there a location I should request that is better than others? Is there a location I should ask to be away from? I know some of the rooms are directly above Whispering Canyon. Do you hear the noise from the restaurant in the room? Do you hear lobby noise in the room?

I am primarily concerned about noise, but would also like to know about any really lousy views as well. If the rooms are significantly noisier than Woods View or if there is a good chance I will be looking out at a roof (not down at a roof, but out at a roof), I may opt to change my ressie to Woods view.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would keep it simple and just request a quiet location. Of course if you are nonsmokers, you will want that request in as well. That way if they have any woods view or courtyard rooms sitting empty, you may get an upgrade. If not, they will try to put you in a standard room that doesn't get the noise from Whispering Canyon. Stayed in a standard room over Easter, and didn't know what to request so we just took our chances. As it turns out, we were facing a little pond they call Otter Pond (we did see the otters several times!). Can't remember the room number; it was on the second floow. The room was away from delivery area and quiet. We could just make out the monorail going/coming in the CR, so I'm sure on a higher floor you could see more. I would request a room in that area again, I wasn't disappointed for the money. Enjoy!!

We had a standard view and requested near the lobby. We were down the hallway behind checkin and had a view of the Villas. We were on the main floor and enjoyed not needing the elevator and having quick access to the food court.

I'm confused about where you say the room was!! There are rooms down the hall behind the checkin? I thought that was where the store and arcade were. Can you clarify?

There is a hallway off the lobby (same side as registration - not WCC), we walked down the hallway, made a *quick* left and there was our hallway of rooms. We were probably the 3rd or 4th room on the right. We had 2 queen sized beds. Several rooms further down the hallway were our friends who had a queen with bunkbeds.

It's been a couple of years since we have stayed there so I apologize if my directions are clear. We really enjoyed WL and typically visit each trip just for the water mice. If the slide were bigger, it would probably be our favorite resort.

Thanks for the clarification. Now I know where you mean. Are you sure those are standard view rooms and not woods view? If they are standard view, I will probably request one. I agree they seem to be a good location

Good question! I booked and paid for a standard view room. We requested near the lobby and that's where they put us. I know my friends paid for a standard view as well. Maybe those rooms have been reclassified as woods view? Or maybe we both got upgraded and didn't know it!

I'm going here for the first time in Sept. Is the transportation easy to do? And is there a bus to the world wide sports complex? Is there a beach area?
How;s the restaurant in the resort?
