Book suggestions for DS (9) please !!

Hey,

I am looking for some suggestions for books for my boys Christmas.

The last book series he read was The Beast Quest and he was so into them.

But his school " upped " his home reading and he lost interest and has not read a book of his own choice for a looooong time.

Im thinking Christmas holidays could be worth a shot to get him back in...if I can get him off his xbox !!

He does seem to like series,but any good one off's are good too.

I would love any help.

my ds (8) loves the horrid henry books im sure he gets his inspiration from Henry a lot of the time !!!!

My Nephew (who is 10 today) likes the Beast Quest books & I have got him the Captain Underpants series for Christmas along with some other pressies.

My DS is only 7 he loves the Horrid Henry Books too, also Rhoald Dahl.
For Christmas I have bought him The Jeremy Strong collection as his teacher advised us that boys really love these books.

My ds8 is reading Fergus Crane and has read the far flung adventures. They are written by chris riddell. Our school and a question and answer session with him and the illustrator and now Liam is hooked with all his books

My DS loved the Darren Shan series of books at that age - they really got him into reading more and he kept up with them for quite a while...

Not sure these are available in the UK but for a change of pace I'm suggesting a couple of series that are popular with boys in our library (I'm an elementary school librarian in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA).

Hank the Cowdog is a series of action/mysteries with Hank (a dog and Head of Ranch Security) as the narrator. Very funny books. I hope this link displays for you. It has information about Hank plus games. http://us.penguingroup.com/static/packages/us/yreaders/hankthecowdog/

BTW Captain Underpants has been the number one favorite series with boys (and lots of girls) for the past five or six years.

DS really enjoyed Cliff Hanger and Buried Alive by Jacqueline Wilson. It was only after a long, long search that we were disappointed to find that these were the only boyish books that she wrote.

Hover Car Racer by Matthew Reilly is good but might be for slightly older children. I think they do it in a whole book and as a three parter.

I teach 9 year olds. My boys like the Captain Underpants books, the Jeremy Strong books and also like Agent Jack Stalwart (I think thats his name!!) series books.

I agree on the Captain Underpant and Horrid Henry,DS read and loved them.

I will say tho that by far The Beast Quests were his favorite so if youse guys are lookin to buy for your boys I would highly recommend them.

hi, don't know much about boys books however my DD likes the according to humphrey books which she finds funny which are good for both boys and girls.
