Book Resort Now or Wait For Possible FD?

Should I wait to see if Free Dining is going to be offered BEFORE I book our resort? If I book first, and FD comes out, will I still be eligible? I know it comes out in February, and we are going in September, so it wont be last minute if I have to wait. Is there an advantage to waiting, or should I get it booked ASAP?

The number of Free Dining rooms offered is based on occupancy levels so every room booked will impact the final offering.

My advice is if you are going whether you get Free Dining or not, then keep the room and when they announce call immediately to see if you can switch the reservation. If you will only go if they offer Free Dining, then wait because you don't need the room now and leaving it in inventory would help more FD rooms be released.

If you want to go whether or not you get FD, then booking 6 months in advance will allow you to book ADR's at 180 +10 days, which can be an advantage if you want some hard to get ADR's.

Another reason to book early would be if you are only interested in one resort and/or a specific category. Some resorts or room categories sell out before discounts or FD is offered. By booking early, you ensure that you can stay in the resort and room that you want. You may have to pay full price, though.

So, I agree, if you are going regardless of discounts/offers, then book a room or package that you would be happy with even if FD is not offered for your preferred resort/dates, ASAP. Of course, if you are only interested in going with a particular resort if FD is offered then you should wait for the reasons HopperFan suggested.
