1st marking period outside reading assignment.
Stephanie Meyer is the astounding author of the book Twilight (2005). The story begins as Isabella swan comes grudgingly to the rainy town of Forks, Washington. At her new high school she becomes friends with Edward Cullen, a junior that the other students seem to avoid. As the story unfolds Edward is revealed to be a vampire that has the added ability to read minds of all except Bella. Halfway through the story the two start dating. One day another clan of vampires comes into town; their leader is a tracer, a vampire skilled at tracking. He then starts tracking Bella because she has an intriguing scent for a human and her blood must taste better. Edward along with his sisters and brothers, Emmet, Jasper, Rosily, and Alice, try and help save Bella but she ends up nearly dead anyway.
This is a book all fantasy readers would enjoy. There is enough length at 498 pages, including the epilogue, so that you can read it for a while but it will not take forever to finish. The book scoffs at typical vampire myths and legends. EDWARD IN THE SUNLIGHT WAS SHOCKING. I COULDNT get used to it, though Id been staring at him all afternoon. His skin, white despite the faint flush of yesterdays hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface.(p260) As the plot developed two main climaxes surfaced, dividing the book into two stories that tie together perfectly. The only downside is that the book is slightly directed towards female readers which may affect the audience appeal because of a heavy amount of romance seen throughout the book. Look, I love you more than anything else in the world combined.(p498) Overall it is a book I have suggested to many friends who have liked it and asked to borrow it again.
