Hey guys
I need your help finding a book to take with me to WDW. Some info:

-No Stephanie Myer/Twilight stuff.
-I enjoy plot lines that are "dramatic" as in it has drugs, sex, etc.
-I enjoy Ellen Hopkins (she has another coming out but after I get back :guilty: ), and Sarah Dessen.
-"fluff"/easy reads are okay.

Whatcha got for me?

The Outsiders...lol. My favorite book EVER!!!

or

Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie...some like it some don't but it has a lot of similarities with my life so I loved it

Fahrenheit 451-Ray Bradbury.
Wicked Lovely-Melissa Marr.
Marked-PC Cast
The Lovely Bones-Alice Sebold.
The Book Theif-Markus Zusak.
The Adoration of Jenna Fox -Forgot the author.
The Penny Tree-Again forgot.
Digital Fortress-Dan Brown.
Basically anything by Dan Brown.

Those are good books!

Sisterhood of the traveling pants 1,2,3,&4-Ann Brashare(sp)
The year my sister got lucky-Amiee Freidman(awesome book)

That is all i can think of at the moment.

For a dramatic plotline, read Smack by Melvin Burgess. It has sex AND drugs, lmao.

Although not really a book for teens, The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant is really good. And the plotline is VERY bom chicka wah wah heavy.

I actually really liked that book. I thought at first it was a little cheesy for me, but towards then I fell in love with it.

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold - Amazing book. I have read it 5 times now.
19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult - Another amazing book. It's about a school shooting so, just warning you right now if you will have problems with that.
Candy by .... I don't remember, but if you private message me I can describe it. I picked this off my friends bookshelf once and read it for 3 days straight. I loved it.

There are a lot more, but those are pretty much my all time favorite books.

nice...it was a summer reading book for us... and all the girls hated the book but the guys liked it...which is weird since guys usually hate the books and the girls like all of them. Or they are like me sometimes and don't even read it...lol. But I was lucky enough I read that one

haha I liked it just because I loved how he joined all these clubs and things for a girl, and beat the girl out every time. It was entertaining to see what kind of mess he would get in next. But he did get really involved in the school lol.

Well, it's Stephenie Meyer, but if you aren't huge on Twilight, you might want to check out the Host. It's completely different, and I liked it better than Twilight. Not as teenie/predictable (though I am a huge Twilight fan and enjoy most teen books, though most of them are somewhat easy to predict).

Other than that, here are some of my favorites:
-1984, George Orwell (The scariest book ever. Dark, and can relate to anything now)
-To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee (Ahh, summer reading. gotta re-read soon)
-A Separate Peace, John Knowles (It's a tad dry, but I liked it)
-Daddy's Little Girl, Mary Higgens Clark (Mystery, and it's awesome)
-The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown (It's pure fiction, so don't take it as fact, but it does make you think)
-A Corner of the Universe, Ann M. Martin (Such a great book, everyone should read)
-Interview with the Vampire, Anne Rice (Just makes you wonder)
-The Rifle, Gary Paulsen (Short, and it makes you think about guns, risk vs. reward, etc. Really interesting, though the beginning is dry).

Obviously, I really like books that make you think, and with strong theming, whether I agree with it or not. Next on my to-read list (behind re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird) is Wicked. My dad read it, and apparently there is a lot of theming about whether or not evil truely exists. Collections of Poe stories are also good, and Shirley Jackson's The Lottery is a collection of short stories featuring the Lottery, which is just very, very dark, and also heavily themed.

Another push on the Host before I finish up is that it also has Utopian themes, with a lot of thrill but relatability, and a feeling that it could happen in a way, and a fear of it happening, as well as more theming that I won't give away.

Happy Reading!

If you like vampires but are tired of Stefanie Meyers stuff then read these...

Vampire Kisses-Ellen Schreiber
Kissing Coffins-Ellen Schreiber
Vampireville-Ellen Schreiber
Dance with a Vampire-Ellen Schreiber
The Coffin Club-Ellen Schreiber

It's a 5 book series so far but Ellen signed to do a 6th and 7th book and I think the 6th comes out next year if you like the rest of the series.

The Last Summer (Of You And Me) by Ann Brashares. That's an amazing book and I HIGHLY reccommend it.

I've only read two Sarah Dessen books.
Megan Meade's Guide To The McGowan Boys (it has a whole lot of drama! It's really good)
and if you like the "love/relationship" type of books read This Lullaby.
(both by Sarah Dessen)

Sold and Cut by Patricia McCormick
Skinny by Ibi Kaslik
Inleashed and Tripping to Somewhere by Kristopher Reisz

They are all really good books. You'll like them a lot.

i read that this summer.
it's pretty good.
not my favorite, but i liked it.

Here are my recommendations:

-Anything by the Andrian Mole series (really funny!:teeth:). It's better if you start with the first book, The Secret Diary of
Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾
.
- The pact by Jodi Picoult (has a heavy subject though).

I haven't read the book, but I have seen the movie (starring Heath Ledger, who was immense, and Abbie Cornish). It was like a punch in the stomach. Very moving and thought provoking.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult

Pretty Little Devils by Nancy Holder
