Book on board and then change date?

We are cuising in a couple of months and I would love to take advantage of the special offers you get when you book your next cruise while on board. By the time we cruise, they will probably have dates for '07, but we might not be able to curise again until '08 (I want to save enough for the 7 night curise). Does anyone know if there is a way to get the savings? i.e. book for '07 and then change after returning home? Or tell them you want to book but not until '08?

Yep! That's what we did! On our 9/11/04 cruise, we booked for the last possible date they could do which was like 12/05. Once we got home and 2006 dates came out, we were able to change it! Still got our 10% discount and $200.00 on board credit!!

We sailed in Sept 2003. We booked on board for Sept 04, but we knew we couldn't afford to sail again so soon, so as soon as the dates became available we moved it to Sept 05.

So --- go for it. We also transfered the booking to DU after the date change, and through it all we kept the rate and room credit plus got a rebate from DU.

You can change the date and still get the savings, the onboard credit, everything. We booked for November 2006 and changed it within a couple of weeks of getting home when we found a date and a cruise that we preferred over the one we originally booked. True, it wasn't months later like you want to do, in fact, it was two weeks earlier than our original booking, but there was no problem at all. The CM who rebooked us onboard also said we could change the dates if we wanted to later.

We transferred the booking to our AAA TA. They are offering a $150 onboard credit in addition to the 10% and the $200 we got through Disney. What are other TAs offering in the way of incentives?
