I hate that it was canceled - I liked it. I thought it had some really good moments of family situations.
Of course to me, when he was talking to Jesus, he was just talking to his conscious. He just manifested his conscious as Jesus - therefore, Jesus couldn't always answer his questions or give him definite direction on what to do.
I thought the family situations were handled well, the impact on the family of Dainel's mother's illness, supporting his gay son while realizing that his father would have problems with it, having the family history of losing a child, having the prejudices of some suposedly family friends who don't want the "non white" child to date their daughter - I loved the scene where the mother tells the "friend" that he IS their son, the fact that Daniel's mother's illness is tearing his father apart and he is turning to an old friend for 'support' and she doesn't want anything permanent from the relationship.
The only one I really have a hard time grasping is the daughter. I understand she saw an opportunity to make money so she took it but that would be sooo risky. I even understand the housekeeper's need to smoke it for medical reasons - getting to the issue of medical uses for pot.
I never really saw Daniel's wife as a drunk. I only remember one scene where she seemed drunk. It did show her having a drink now and then but I don't remember her constantly being drunk.
I didn't intend for this to go on so long - sorry - I also have only read the first 3 posts in this thread so all of this stuff may have been discussed already.
Anyway - just wanted to voice my disapointment.
