Book now or wait just a bit longer?

Looking at either American Airlines or Southwest to travel June 29 and July 6. Still have several months, so do I keep waiting for them to go down a bit? Southwest hasn't budged in months, at $122 and I have seen American go down to $103 a couple months ago but now the same as Southwest. I know about rebooking if Southwest goes down, but it won't benefit us cuz' we won't be traveling again within a year.

We're also waiting for pretty much the same dates....June 27-July 8. I keep checking JetBlue and Delta, they were originally pretty good (@ $210 RT) but, alas, I waited...now it's up to $280 RT! I am hoping they drop a couple of months before. Last year we waited to book for our August trip and booked $170 RT at the end of June. So I guess we have a bit of time.....:rolleyes1 Keeping our fingers crossed.....

Hey DisneyClown! We're traveling on the exact same dates.

I booked our departure with Southwest the day they released...with MUCH reluctance at $107. Compared to the deal I got in 2005 ($59) and what others have gotten, historically, I felt it was high. But taking into consideration that it's 5 yrs. later and with this economy, I should just...accept it and hope & check daily for the rate to drop so I can rebook. Although, I just couldn't bring myself to book the return at $147 and I am NOT happy that neither flight has budged since it was released in DECEMBER. They're making me nervous!!! I just want this trip BOOKED so I can relax a bit, ya know? I'm reeeeal close to giving in and just booking the high rate and settling for a credit (I DO wanna go to Vegas for my birthday & to visit friends and could use it then) because I'm too scared to wait until 1 or 2 months out...I have 7 tickets to book.

Airtran is lookin' mighty good at $67 non-stop, but I really wanted to stay with the same airline. I don't want complication on vacation.

I'll keep up with this thread if I see any rate drops.

I have heard it's better to book each way separately, but didn't know if it mattered if both ways are the same price. Isn't it easier to just book roundtrip? I am looking at Southwest for their No Baggage Fees, and American Airlines because I am more familiar with them and I like the assigned seating ahead of time. Whichever one drops to a price I like. Speaking of prices-I'm wondering if it's too much to hope for $79? Kinda' what I was waiting for, but I probably will book if it gets closer to $100. I check everyday, morning and night, soooo.....here's hoping! Good luck to you as well!
