Going to WDW in October & we'd like to stay at the fort wilderness cabins. Right now the rate is $269 a night. I have heard that the rate can go down to as little as $169 a night when they run specials. Disney claims that if you book now and then a special runs and you call, you may get the lower rate depending I guess on how many spaces they have available at that rate. But I tried that once in 2000-we stayed at Dixie Landings and I heard about a lower rate right before we left and disney said they couldn't give it to me for some reason. So I'm wondering if they really only give the lower rate to people who have already booked or do they try to save it only for last minute bookings? Even though it's a relatively slow time of year, I'm hesitant to wait until the last minute to book something. How far in advance to specials usually run? Mousesavers?
