Book for May now or wait for AP Codes?

I'm giving trips to WDW for Christmas presents this year. I'm going in January with my son and GD and had planned to take my other son and D-I-L in May. My D-I-L decided they would rather go in Sept around their anniversary (plus she's 7 1/2 months pregnant right now). So I decided to make two solo trips in May and early Dec 2005. (my first solo trip--yeah!!) I think I want to rent DVC points and stay at BW villas for the Dec trip. For the May trip I am about 80% sure I want to stay at POFQ (or maybe do a split stay with POFQ and POP). If I can't get a AP code though, then I will simply stay at POP for the whole week. I wanted to wait to book the room until I got back from the Jan trip and the new AP codes came out, but recently read that Coronado was already full for early May, which will probably mean the other hotels will start filling up soon. Right? Should I go ahead and book a value resort just to make sure I have a room or do you think I'd be ok to wait until the code comes out and book POFQ? I'm going to be at WDW Jan 9th-15th and am afraid the codes will come out while I'm gone though.

I'm not sure about your question, but could you adopt me??? :earboy2:

What generous gifts! Have a great time. :D

Hi! I would go ahead and book for May now. I have already! (May 28 - June 5th) Then, apply the AP rate to your reservation when it comes out. If you are unable to get the rate you need, you can switch resorts at that time. Happy planning!

I would book now - if your dates are around the 50th celebration (May 5th), you may have difficulting finding a room.

I'd book the Value now, but not POFQ. That way you know you have a room, whatever happens.

Since it sounds like you won't stay at PO unless a discount comes along, there's no reason to book there now if you *know* you won't stay there at that price.

The key thing to remember is that already having a reservation at a resort doesn't make it any easier to get a discount when the discounts come out.

Book now, ON THE PHONE, and call to apply the AP code when it is released.

I emphasize ON THE PHONE, because if you book online and then switch your ressie (which you have to do by calling) they will NOT transfer your deposit from one ressie to another. They have to refund the old one (becaue it was made online) and you have to pay a seperate deposit again. This was a huge hassle for me - because they "lost" my original refund and it took a couple of weeks to straighten it out, and in the meantime I had to send another deposit for the new ressie.

If you pay your deposit by credit card on the phone, or send a check, they can easily transfer it between ressies - they just won't do it for Internet bookings for whatever security reason.

N.E.D.

Actually there's no reason to book now and apply the discount later. When discount rates become available, just call and book then at the reduced rates.

If you know you won't keep the reservation without the discount, booking without the discount is simply an extra call that gives no benefit.
