:headache::headache:What would you do??

We want flights for 2 weeks for end of July 2012 for 2A & 2C (15&9) we have found a flydrive with thomas cook for £2992 going on 20th (without car insurance) do we book it or wait and see what Virgin flight only prices are as their flydrive is £800 more (again without insurance).

We have never been in July so have no idea how expensive the flights will be, I have looked at our dates for this year with Virgin and they are near enough the same price as Thomas Cook. Has anyone flown with thomas cook to Florida?? :headache::headache:

Do I take the risk that TC prices may increase or that Virgin may be around the same price? PLEASE HELP!!!

We have booked the flydrive option in the past purely because we wanted the flights booked and didn't want to risk not being on the plane. It also had the added advantage of us being able to pay a deposit - where VA wanted all the money on booking (although I know this isnt a factor for some it was for us).
I think most would agree that the chances are the VA flights will be cheaper than the fly drive ones - though no-one will know by how much nor how much demand there will be for your particular flight.

I'd book it - just looked at Virgin for April 2012 and they wanted just short of £1100 per adult just for the flight :scared1:

Scary prices. A awful lot of people will find Florida holidays way out of their reach.

:wave2: That'd be us. £1100 just to get there? You've gotta be kidding. In 2010, we did 11 days all inclusive in Orlando for £900. It's nuts. We won't be paying it. To quote my partner: "Come back and ask me if you find anything less than £500".

We also want to go April 2012 and could not believe virgins prices. We are now looking at in direct flights I know a lot of Disers likexx this

If you don't mind driving when you are over in Florida, it may be worth checking out flights to alternative airports such as Tampa and Miami (both available direct or indirect from London), or to Jacksonville (indirect) once flight prices get released (around end August this year). We are going in August 2012 and will be checking prices to these airports as well as direct Manchester - Orlando.

Using these airports can save you a fair amount of money. Last July/August, we were looking at around £750 each flying with VA from Manchester to Orlando. We ended up booking flights from Heathrow to Miami for £400 with American Airlines (out 29th July, return 14th August) in Nov 2009. We did use Air Miles for connecting flights to Heathrow - aside from that, our only additional expenses were Travelodge at Heathrow (£19), taxis at Heathrow (£30) and additional fuel Miami - Orlando (around $40). The money we saved paid for all of our park tickets - 14 day WDW, 14 day Unievrsal and one day Seaworld.
