Book Delta now or wait for SW?

I just got a quote for Delta for $98 RT ($120 with taxes). We are going in January from Nashville. Last January we went (5 people) for a TOTAL of $377 on SW. The Delta will be about $590. Would you wait if you were me (our SW Ding fare one way was $29, the Delta one way is $49). Does anyone have any real problems with Delta? I have read some reports about them changing flights, etc. Also, these flights are operated by Freedom Air and Comair. Does that matter? Thanks.

Personally I would book for that rate and not look back. Dings aren't guaranteed and the BEST I have seen this year is more in the $39 to $44 rate.

Now if you think something MIGHT change don't book. DL will charge you a $50 change fee for each ticket you change so that's almost as much as the ticket! In that case hold out for SW and hope for a Ding on your dates etc. (I have to admit I think DINGs are getting harder. The one's I got for BHM last night were once again for selected flights only!)

I used to fly that route all the time on those DL planes and never had any real problems.

Sorry to be disagreeable. I wouldn't book. Keep watching the Dings. January is not a peak time and I don't see a big problem with coming up with a Southwest deal. I have been reading more and more people not happy with Delta because they keep changing their flight times, etc. and Southwest doesn't have the fees like the do to change your ressie.

But do what's within your comfort level. I tend to take more risks than some.
