Book @ 11th mo....change @ 7th mo..

Just wanted to see how everyone feels about this methodology and its effect on fellow DVCers.

I've had no problems in all these years getting 7th mo. ressies @ other resorts, even 2 bdrms,..VWL..BWV (standard)..OKW @ the 7th mo. window.....even for the F&W in Oct, December, Easter...maybe its just been luck.
YES..I am able to plan that far out and DO call on the 7th mo. day!!

What about the 7th mo. DVCer trying to get ressies @ my home @ my 11th mo.....and they can't...because I'm holding a ressie.....that I'm going to give up anyway?? Isn't this a little underhanded?? Maybe as DVC grows...I'll change my tune

Yes..I understand the "home" advantage..but somehow massaging the system this way doesn't sit right with me and I don't know what resolution would help ALL of us.

I imagine that there's lots of ressies that get changed, and it's a waste of CM's time, paper, postage etc. People talk about dues, costs of even having some Saturday hours for MS to be opened, say as a convenience for people on the West Coast, I wonder what the cost of these wasted things come to.

I don't think it's unfair to use the home advantage even if you are planning to change resorts. I'm OK with the system as is.

LOL, would you not buy a concert ticket just in case even if you didn't know if you'd use it or not. You'd be taking that ticket from someone else if the concert sold out wouldn't you? And in case someone might ask, I don't see it as ANY different. I guess it's just not in my nature to understand this emotional side that some seem to have in this area. Frankly, I bought a timeshare, it wasn't my intention to join a CLUB. All I owe the other members is to follow the rules & laws and try not to wreck the place. IMO, I can be courteous AND reserve xmas and rent it out every year if I wanted. This is something DVC itself does not uncommonly.

Thanks for your thoughts ..Dean. I do appreciate your insight on most things. Yes...I would buy the concert ticket!!

I also have 2 other timeshares, encompassing 4 weeks...don't have these issues...and never think of applying this kind of methodology.
Just seems like lots of MY $$$ spent in manipulation... the can be better spent...

I don't think it's wrong to hold a reservation at your home resort while trying to make one elsewhere, either. It's about the only advantage you have at your home resort! The system works the same for everyone.

Besides, if the person trying to get into your home resort really wants to stay there, he/she will use the waitlist. When you release your reservation (because you got the one you really wanted), that other person will be happy that the waitlist worked so quickly.

Your scenario is exactly why the waitlist works. I see it as just a flaw in the system that makes it a bit more to manage.

I got VWL at the 7 month with no problems for May7th thru the 12th.

YES..I know..YOU are "right on"..and I am sitting here...cracking up..smiling at my PC.. reading your post.

No..No..NO..I certainly remember my wait..I, like you, think BCV is "heavenly" and I absolutely keep the ressies every year....
...but I like extending for some extra days (yes...retirement is "grand"! ) to explore other DVC's, especially when I'm solo.

I must have too much time on my hands here in NJ this winter...guess because there's no add on to worry about..Hee Hee!!
