So glad you got that news on Paxton! Little guy is soooo cute!!
YAY for such a short time til DL!!!!:cool1::yay::dance3: Can't wait to hear all about it!!

LOL I don't have anything to say about Hanson either...but glad you're happy! :lmao:

I bet you're having fun coming up with things for Paxton to do on the plane. IDK what we'll do for Aria, being only 8 months I don't know if she'll need "new" things or what. Hmmm...

Bet your excited for DL! Can't wait to hear all about it!

As much as I'm hoping he will just sleep on the plane, I'm being realistic. It has actually been kind of a pain to find things for him to do! He's kind of at an in-between stage where most things that would travel well are too young for him (rattlers, teethers, etc), but he's still too young for grab & go craft packs and things like that. My friend at work who does activities with the kids has tons of stuff like that that would be perfect for little ones traveling, but he's too young for that stuff now. I look forward to our days of travel when he is old enough for stuff like that! Right now, I'm just looking for things that will hopefully keep him busy, but won't turn into a projectile or get knocked all over the floor & roll around. :rotfl:

LOL sorry to hear that. I guess I know what you mean, though all this baby stuff is so new to me that I haven't actually seen all these different ages. Projectile items also pose a problem - you need stuff that you can clip to him... we have a LO that's in love with the TV (though I face her away from it, or turn it off when she won't stop looking at it...ugh) so I think a DVD player/ipad will be our best friend on the flight. She already loves mickey mouse clubhouse.

Oh man, Paxton was OBSESSED with the TV when he was really little! This is one of my favorite pictures...DH was holding him in the kitchen turned away from the TV in the living room, and he draped himself backwards to be able to see it anyway!

Nowadays he will stop and watch for a little while, but is not interested in watching for long stretches. Although he did watch for pretty much our whole flight back from WDW last time because it was the only thing that kept him from crying after he woke up. We are stocking up on shows and movies for the iPad, but I don't foresee it keeping him entertained for the whole 4.5 hours! Hopefully Aria will still appreciate it like she does now by the time your trip rolls around. Great way to keep them quiet & distracted on a long flight!

:banana::yay::banana::yay:

I am fully confident that he can and will turn anything into a projectile.:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

:woohoo:

Well, you're right about that. I'm hoping he will at least find everything interesting enough to not WANT to make it into a projectile! :rotfl: I have been buying and hiding all of these things all along so that every single item will be brand new once we are on the plane. Crossing my fingers that my strategies will work!

Well, our trip to Disneyland/Seattle is only FOUR DAYS away and I couldn't be more excited!!

We did make one more sort-of trip purchase (we wanted to get one anyway, but are happy we got it in time for the trip so we can take it with us). DH loves the show Shark Tank, but I don't usually watch with him. He was watching it the other night while I was trying to go to sleep, but when I heard the description of this item, I was intrigued and rolled over to watch. We immediately went online to search for them and found one! So Paxton has his very own Lollacup!

lollacup.png

Basically what's cool about it is that the straw is weighted at the bottom. So even when kids tilt the cup up to drink, the bottom of the straw stays in the liquid instead of rising above it.

We got it in a few days ago and put Paxton's milk in it for dinnertime. He took to it immediately! Although he does seem to enjoy opening & closing the top more than he does using the straw. :rotfl:

With our trip sneaking up on us quickly, we have been trying to get Paxton as close to California time as possible before we leave. And it has NOT been going well! He normally goes down in his crib at 8 and is asleep by 8:30, then wakes up a little after 7 the next morning. So we pushed him back to putting him in his crib at 8:30 and he fell asleep around 9, but then yesterday morning he was up at 6:45! We tried leaving him in his crib to see if he'd go back to sleep, but nope. So yesterday I pushed his naptime back by an hour, letting him sleep from 2pm-5pm so that we could put him to bed at 9. He was still up by 7 this morning! :faint: Tonight I guess we will attempt a bedtime of 9:30 and see if that makes any difference. If not, I guess we will abandon this plan and just deal with it when we get to CA. When I talked to my mom the other day, she asked what would be the worst thing if he was not on CA time by the time we got there, and my answer was, "We'll be getting up at 5 am!" All she had to say to that was, "Oh..." :lmao: I guess she thought we were making more of a big deal out of it than it was, but getting up at 5 when the parks don't open until 9 sounds awful to me!

Hopefully we will have a breakthrough!

Well, that's really about all that's been going on. I have mostly just been trying to catch up on all the shows that have piled up on the DVR since we will have another onslaught of shows taping while we are gone. And I started my packing list! I'm hoping to get started on packing today and tomorrow. I am off until Saturday, and just working an 8 hour shift that day, so I get off at 3 to come home and finish packing. Sunday morning we are going to church, then leaving to get to New Orleans for a day with family in my mom's pool, and staying the night there for our flight Monday morning. SO EXCITED!!

:dance3:FOUR MORE DAYS!!:dance3:

OMG that picture is priceless!! I love it!! Aria is the same way - interesting that they grow out of it. How do you "stock up" on TV shows for the ipad? Itunes? there are some cute nursery rhymes and such on youtube, but that's all online so IDK how to really get them on the ipad w/o internet and without paying a ton on itunes. hmm.

That sippy cup looks awesome! I love the chicken on top! Smart of you to try to get him on CA time but it sounds like you might just have to deal - maybe he'll be so tired from the flight that he'll sleep "in" on your first day, and then adjust after that? I have to wake poor Aria up at 5AM every day for daycare, if it makes you feel any better. :goodvibes She still won't go to sleep before 8pm though. Luckily she isn't upset about it, just super groggy for a couple minutes.

That cup looks like a great idea... DS still doesn't quite get the concept of holding the cup so that the straw below the water line. :lmao:

Good luck getting Paxton adjusted to the time difference. I hope he can at least push it all back by a couple of hours.

I left that to DH, but it's pretty much a combination of iTunes, stuff we have burned from DVD's onto the computer, and digital copies of movies that came with the Blu Ray/DVD combos.

I used to wake Paxton up at 5 am too to nurse him before going to work. Now that he is older, he wakes up somewhere between 7 and 7:30. I'm hoping if we can't get him on CA time totally, that he will be tired from our travel day and sleep in the next morning, like you said. We might just have to torture ourselves and keep him up as late as we can Monday night after we arrive so that he won't be waking up super early Tuesday morning!

That is exactly why I loved it! When the people on the show were describing it, DH and I looked at each other and both said how brilliant of an idea that is! And DS is just now learning to drink from a straw instead of just chewing on it, so it was really the perfect time to get it. They retail for around $18 I think, but DH was able to find a pretty good deal on it, if I remember right, and we were able to get ours for $11 or $12.

Me too! I will keep trying...

Our trip will be from October 21-28

We'll be at WBC at the same time! Our 2-bedroom is booked for October 23-30! :thumbsup2

I've enjoyed reading through your PTR and one of these days I'll get around to doing one of my own. Here's to a fantastic vacation!

How awesome! Looks like there will be a few of us DISers running the halls of WBC that week.

Also, LOVE your ticker! lol I am pretty excited about the trip in general, but just absolutely ecstatic about seeing Hanson!!

I think you are doing the right thing on the pre-time change. He might still be waking up at 7 AM now, but eventually he will be tired enough to sleep through. I would be doing the exact same thing...

Actually have a very similar plan for our trip in July. DD, soon to be 9, goes to bed about 8:30 and is usually asleep around 9 PM, but up the next morning around 7 AM. (10 hours per night - no nap of course). The week leading up to our trip, she will have to be at a "day-camp" at the local zoo, which doesn't start unitl 9 AM. My plan is to start keeping her up later starting the weekend before, and by have her staying up until 10 PM most nights, then not getting her up until 8 AM, and taking her to camp on my way to work. I normally go to work at 7:00 AM, but will instead shift my time as well. Then the last two night (Thursday and Friday) she can stay up until 11 PM and hoping Saturday morning she sleep in until 9 AM or so. We don't fly out until afternoon, and arrive in Anaheim at 7:45 PM local time (10:45 PM Eastern), so that very first day will force the time shift. We have the good fortune that DL will be open at 7 AM our first day, which to us will seem like 10 AM.

But, I will say this, when DD was young (1 or 2), we would go to arizona to visit my parents with a 2 hour timechange, and it took her really the entire week to NOT wake up at 5:30 AM, so it is really hard to get little ones to shift their sleep habits, but I really do believe you are doing the right thing in trying to do it ahead of time.

Hope you guys have a great trip. I really am excited to hear about it!

We saw that sippy cup on Shark Tank too and thought the idea was awesome!

Cant believe DL is just a couple days away!! You guys will have such a great time! Cant wait to hear about the trip and hopefully Paxton adjusts well to the time change :)

3 days until Disneyland! :goodvibes You must be soo excited... we just watched the Modern Family episode in Disneyland this evening, it was nice to see the park as well as a fun episode :wizard:

Are you all packed for the trip?!

Emma princess: x

I finally feel like it's getting close because DH is getting excited...usually takes until just a few days before the trip for that to happen! :rotfl: We made a little progress on the time adjustment last night, so hopefully it wasn't a fluke and we can keep it up the next couple of days.

I don't normally watch Modern Family but I watched the DL episode today and cracked up! It made me even more excited to get there and see it all in person, if that was even possible!

Not quite all packed, but getting there. Last night, DH and I packed our clothes, and today we got started on Paxton's clothes. Still have to pack toiletries and last minute stuff, which we'll probably do tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work. It's starting to feel real!

YAY, another Hanson fan on the DIS! I booked our last two fall trips around their performance schedule but this time around (no pun intended) it was pure coincidence! I had to change our original dates and no more than 3 hours after I booked us for 23-30 the ETTB line-up was announced and I was thrilled to see Hanson's last performance was on the 23rd. DD and I are going straight from the airport to Epcot -- I'll let the rest of the family unpack at the hotel. :lmao:

I've been lurking for a while and decided to join in.

All of your plans sound great, very jealous, I still have two months until DL.

Sorry to hear about Paxton's not so great well visit. We had to go through the same thing with DS. The doctors heard a murmur and when they did a routine newborn ultrasound, they said that his aorta looked a little "funny" and they would need to do a follow up at 4 months. The pediatric cardiologist at the hospital assured us that this was quite common, in fact, he had 7 other babies in the nursery (it was a full moon, there were lots of babies) that had the same issue. Everything ended up coming back perfectly normal. This will hopefully be the same for you as well.

Well, two years ago I missed it because I was only a couple weeks away from my due date, so that wasn't happening, and last year we only missed them by a few days. I am SO happy it worked out that they will be there for the dates we already planned!! :yay: I plan to go to at least one performance each night if possible, so maybe we will see you there! It's funny, there are quite a few Hanson fan on the DIS...my avatar used to be Taylor before I changed it to DS and I used to get messages quite often from people who recognized him & were also fans. :rotfl:

Glad everything went well for your DS. :lovestruc Hopefully it will be the same for DS when we see the cardiologist. I really wish we had been able to see her before the trip, but she was full.

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip! Hopefully Paxton will be all adjusted to California time by the time you leave!!!!!
