I can get a bonus vacation from my mom due to rci.
please tell me if which one would be good here are the details.
we are bringing 4 children. 5,8 and 2 15 yr old almost 16 year old boys. we will spend most of our time at disney. would like that they could walk to places if they chose to.

westgate vacation villas week 2 br week $500
Silver Lake(Gold crown resort) 2 br week $800
Emerald VAcation resort at Grand 2br week 1300
Oasis Lakes ( gold crown resort) 2 br $850
Summer Bay (Gold Crown resort) 2 br 750
Celebration World (gold crown resort) 2 br 750

What does anyone think? Cheaper or better resort just to rent instead of a bonus week bought through my mom's rci?

Have you thought about going through www.hotelkingdom.com and getting a 3bdrm at Cypress Pointe?

For a week in a 3bdrm it is around $700 for 7 nights! I would go for that over the 2bdrms you can get on RCI.

I have four kids as well and the extra space would be great for you.

with the extra vacations she will probably have to "buy" a guest certificate also....so others can use her purchase

guest certficates are free if you do it over the net.

thanx for the celebration info i will look into. not sure if her bonus vacation is that much of a deal since i know i can also get a house for over 100 a night. how is the celebration? i could use 3 bedrooms. price is a factor though but staying off property should be the best for us considering i have my teen son and a friend also.

cypress point disney is 928 for the week
cypress point orlando is 700 a week
these are 3 bedrooms. which one were you referring to?

I was referring to Cypress Pointe Resort, which i am guessing is cypress pointe orlando? I think the other , Cypress Pointe Disney would be the Grand Villas?

They are both the same place but the grand villas are newer(ie. more expensive of the two) ,though the resort side has just been totally refurbished so it`s like new. :)

according to the Extra Vacations information

One vacation a year just isn't enough. So RCI wants to make sure you can take an Extra Vacation whenever you feel the urge, without having to use your deposited vacation week - and for a price that's really easy on your wallet.

Extra Vacations come from various sources, such as when members decide to take a cruise instead of vacationing at their resort. Or when we have access to an abundance of seasonal inventory in certain areas. Sometimes we even go out and find special deals at the places our members have been asking for.

Extra Vacations are for weeklong stays. But the cost is so low, they're wonderful deals even if you don't stay away that long. You can even purchase Guest Certificates and give an Extra Vacation to relatives and friends.

this is what i was referring to, if it is an exchange and not an extra vacation ( do not know how the Guest Certificate works with them )

It sounds like the OP does have it correct in that she can get a "bonus" week and the fee is waived if they book over the net. We do these all the time and they can really be a great deal. As for the choices the OP mentioned - I prefer Silver Lake of those choices. The 2 bedrooms are HUGE and SL is VERY close to Disney. Hope this helps.

that is the way it used to be with BONUS weeks, but they now have a new categorization of these weeks, calling them "Extra Vacations"

this new way of offering excess inventory has just occurred within the last month or so

they also have a new "LAST MINUTE" called "LAST CALL" with very resonable rates if you can travel on short notice....studio go for 99$, 1 bedroom for 149$ and 2 bedroom for 199$ ( think it is 45 days out for inventory posting )

from what she posted, it seemed like she was referring to "extra vacations"

was just quoting from the RCI website with regard to need for guest certificate for friends and relatives

maybe they periodically will waive the fee, all the better if they do

might as well have 49$ in our pockets as opposed to RCI's just for printing a piece of paper

we plan on taking advantage of these extra vacations, since it is cheaper than exchanging.....using a week ( maintenance fees and taxes ) and paying the 149$ exchange fee ( if they waive the guest fee we may even offer them up to relatives and friends )

they have some very nice HIGH end timeshares being offered for 500$ in Florida ( but this might not always be the case, since they are probably developer weeks )

UPDATE:

Just completed a transaction for HGVC on International drive, on the confirm page they did have a check box that offered "Check here if you would lie to add a FREE guest certificate to this reservation. Please note, if you are not the person who will be checking into the resort, you must add the Guest Certificate."

SO they do seem to offer guest certificates for no charge contrary to the information they post on the "introductory page to the Extra Vacations"

Just hope this is not just a temporary thing with Extra Vacations.....as they require 49$ for Guest Certificates on regular exchanges
