But this is not my pass! 11/19
Sure makes a difference when you get a good nights sleep. Raring to go this morning. Got up at 7:45, picked up a quick breakfast at Burger King and got to the MK by 8:30. I was suprised to find them letting people on the monorail then, last January you had to wait until 8:50 before they would even let you on the monorail. It was much less of a hassle to get through security and the ticket gates even if they held us outside the MK until 8:50. And they had a small show with Mickey and characters arriving on the train to open the MK. After opening I proceeded to Tomorrowland where it was only a few minutes wait for the rope drop. I went on Buzz, Space Mountain, Pooh, Snow White, Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain twice and got a fast for Big Thunder. On Splash the water on the mountain itself was not running but not to worry, I still got wet.
Ate at Pecos Bills at 11am and headed to Big Thunder to use my fast pass.
Sidenote: In my previous trips I never noticed the unusual smell others mentioned in the monorail. Well I did this trip! What do they do with those trains at night, move cattle?
Sidenote: And the birds. I was walking from tomorrowland to fantasyland when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked around to see who it was and nobody was there. I continued walking and bam, another tap. I turn around again to find a bird walking away. That little stinker was smacking me on the shoulder. I'm not sure why, I wasn't near any bushes where there might have been a nest.
Time to use my fast pass for Big Thunder. It's right here in my pocket, but wait, where is my park pass? It's supposed to be in there with it. After a thourough body cavity search I have to conclude that it is missing. OK, where did I have it last? Fast pass machine, I probably left it in the machine. It's been over an hour, I know it won't be there but maybe somebody turned it in to the CM. I went back to the machine and asked the CM about it. He asked me "What did it look like?" I told him that I happen to be using a pass from 2000. He said that's the kind he had, it stuck out in his mind because it was a 2000 pass. Yea, red tape averted. Took my ride on Big Thunder then POC. Stopped for a citrus swirl when I observed an incident involving smokers.
As I was sitting enjoying my snack I watched a couple of smokers, the kind that are above the rules. They sat smoking near the Alladin ride (not a smoking area). A CM sweeping nearby went over to them and told them where the smoking area was and even pointed it out. They chose to ignore the CM and proceeded to finish their cigarettes. And people wonder why smokers have such a bad reputation. I know there may be only a few bad smokers but they are ruining it for the rest of you.
After my citrus swirl I went into the Tiki room. I made sure to stand outside the doors afterward to hear the funny comments when the audience is leaving. On to the Jungle Cruise and then back to tomorrowland. I went to Alien, got a pass for Buzz, then took a jaunt on TTA.
Now comes the puzzle. I just took a close look at my park pass. Yes it is a green 2000 pass but instead of my 5 day 4 plus pass it now says 1 day hopper good only 11/19/02. Hold on. This is not my pass. I had 2 days & 4 plusses left on mine. Well it's a good think I photocopied all my passes cause I'm not about to just forget about my days left.
Had to go back to my hotel for my photocopy, narrow it down to exactly which pass I was missing (had 6 different ones photocopied), then I headed over to MGM. I entered MGM using the one day hopper and went to the guest relations to get this straightened out. It took a few minutes but all ended well. What I can't figure out is why a year 2000 pass would have the "good only on 11/19/02" printed on it. Is that done at the turnstyles when you first use the one day hopper? Well anyway whoever got mine didn't get to use the remaining days cause they were voided and I was given a new pass.
At MGM I stopped and made a dinner reservation for Fantasmic for tomorrow. I don't like calling ahead for this reservation because you never know what the weather will be. You can still make them in person at the park but they do take your credit card number just as if you had made it over the phone. Then I headed to the muppet show. Missed the preshow entirely. I do like the preshow but I guess I've seen it enough times.
Went back to Epcot and did Ellen's Energy adventure, hurried to Japan to get the red and green lucky cats (no silver, darn) and found a good seat for illuminations.
Next: Last day at the World, 4 park marathon.
