We are staying at Bonnet Creek starting on Friday and will have our car. How long will it take us from the car to the turnstiles at MK? We will be there for RD and don't want to miss the opening show.

I'm trying to remember...but I know it doesn't take long....to park and walk will take the longest...yanno they have a shuttle right to the front, right?

Hi, we just went a few weeks ago. To get thru security and the ticket turnstiles, I would give yourself at least 45 minutes if ( and I mean if ) you know how to get there. On your first day you may give yourself an hour. It is really close but by the time you park, get the monorail, etc the time goes quickly.

p.s. we love loved loved the resort.

Thanks for the replies. I knew it would take a while to get there. For everyone that has stayed there....if you have a car would you drive to MK or take the shuttle? Where exactly does the shuttle drop off? I'm leaning towards driving because we're going with a family that has never gone and I know they would love the monorail ride to MK. We usually stay on-site so haven't parked in the MK parking lot in ages. I also don't love the idea of using non-Disney transportation...but maybe those who have used Bonnet Creeks shuttle can persuade me. Also, we have AP's so we wouldn't have to pay for parking so that's not an issue....what to do?:confused3 Can you tell I'm undecided?!

trying to decide myself.

driving to the MK is a pain - you have to get in line behind other cars - then after you park the car you have to use their trams (the parking lot is not close to TTC - the Polyn is) to get to the monrail area.

now have not gone offsite with BC yet - but there is a bus parkiing lot in the same general area (TTC). All non-Disney buses have to park here.

so you can take BC buses and still ride the monrail.

when traveling with mother - after we check in but before we got a room - would take her for a couple of hours to ride the monrail. She loved it. I got tired of it about the second Epcot trip - but it took her longer - think we did everything and I mean everything - Epcot monrail, resort monrail, MK monrail - about 3 times before she called it quits. When I say hours - mean hours.

so you can ride the monrail without wasting one of their park passes.

so when offsite - does not matter how you arrive at the MK - you will have to take the monrail or ferry to get to the MK.

would you believe I prefer the ferry.:rolleyes1

so why did I buy BLT. guess must love the monrail and not know it.;)

What about walking to the CBR and getting a ride from one of their bus stops. It can't be that long can it? Has anyone ever done that? I don't really want to waste alot of time riding around and BC is right beside CBR. I don't mind a 5-10 min. walk!

Thirs one's a no-brainer - use the shuttle. It's free, except for the tip. It's fast. 10 minutes from BCR to the TCC. You can take the monorail from there to MK. Ride around the loop there by Grand Floridian and Ploynesian if the kids want to ride the monorail a little. The shuttle is just so convenient. In the morning it leaves BCR about every 30 minutes, at least it did when we were there. I think that schedule varies. One drawback - it gets very crowded returning at night and people become very rude trying to force their way on the bus. This has an easy solution - take a cab back. It is even faster than the shuttle and only costs $12-$15.

you can't - there is a fence plus a water way. you would have to walk all the way out to the street. How like a 30 minute walk if not more. just take the bc shuttle.

thought it was every hour. every half hour is wonderful!!!

The shuttle goes to all the parks. Also goes to Downtown Disney. Regarding the schedule, I believe that changes based on the season and how busy they are.

We were just there (got back yesterday) and found it very easy to get to MK and park. We were there early enough one day that we where we parked we didn't even have to take a tram. It was quicker to walk to the TTC. Just leave early and you won't have a problem.

is the shuttle a mini type bus or van? and what about strollers? we will be using a double and want to make sure there will be room

The shuttle is a full size bus. Should be room for stroller - you may have to fold it up.

Just my opinion, but...

We have stayed at BC several times (BC is our home resort), and have NEVER rented a car. We've always taken the shuttle. I will be the first to admit that the shuttle is probably not condusive to everyone's lifestyle, but it has never steered us wrong.

You will receive a bus schedule when you check in that lists all the drop-off and pick-up times from each of the parks. In the mornings, MK and Epcot are combined on one bus on the hour and half-hour (e.g. 8am, 8:30am, 9am...through 12 noon). AK and DHS are a combined route, leaving BC in the am on the :15 and :45 of the hour.

We found that the bus schedule mostly worked for us. There have been a few times over the years that we have jumped in a cab if the bus schedule just wasn't working for us, but that has been few and far between.

Of course, if you are more of a "fly by the seat of your pants" family, you might be more comfortable renting a car. But if it doesn't play a big part in the enjoyment of your vacation, then I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for the bus info. It makes our decision a lot easier. What is the best way to get from the airport to BC? I was looking at a car service but was hoping for something cheaper. 2 adults, 13 year old and 2 children in car seats. Plus we will need to take a walmart run.

We use *********** Transportation to get from MCO to BC and they provide a 30 minute stop at a grocery store (you just need to specify beforehand that you are going to use this service) and I believe you can request car seats (we don't have any children, so I don't know the ins and outs of this).

Whoops! I didn't realize that was a no-no. Anyhoo, there are transportation services available that will stop for groceries and the like. I don't know about stopping at a WalMart specifically, though.
