Happy New Year!

I'm a lurker that has decided to join in on the fun!

I am the queen of bad choices. Seriously. It would take me days to detail them all. However, I am terrified I will make a bad choice on renting a timeshare from someone (I need a timeshares for dummies book because I just don't understand how they work).

Is there a chart/list on here somewhere that can give me a ballpark idea of what is reasonable for Bonnet Creek 1BR or 2BR during peak season within 60 days? I've seen some rates (still over 60 days out, though) but they are all well over $1,000. That seems high, but since we are staying during the most expensive time, maybe that's normal?

And do I ask for rates on day 60 or do I need to wait until day 59?

I've tried to search the boards here, but there is so much information that I can't find something this specific. You guys sure love Disney and Bonnet Creek!

We haven't been to Disney before, so we have no point of reference on room costs (other than to see that Disney resorts are crazy expensive).

I thought we had chosen a value week when we chose it last July, but the calendar slid a week and now we are on a high-dollar week.

We're also Disney first timers and picked Bonnet Creek. We're going next month and I can't wait! I'm not sure we got the best ever deal ($1000 for 7 nights 2br deluxe), but I'm too impatient to wait til 60 days. It was also our first time share rental and the thought of mailing some random person a check freaked me out. We went with Vacation Strategy since they have refund options and you can also pay via credit card. Although we haven't gone yet, I've been pleased so far. Very professional.

Thanks so much for your input! I'd love to hear from you when you get back on what you thought of the place.

I have my reservation! I also learned that I will NEVER wait for the 60-day window again, especially on a peak week! I had to contact 5 different companies yesterday to find one room, and the one that found a room for us was only able to find that one room. WBC is almost completely booked for the entire month of March.

I did learn that both Vacation Upgrades and Vacation Strategy will check for you at 60 days for discounts on the rooms and pass those discounts on to you, which is super-nice.

My advice to other N00Bs going on a peak week: book now and let the company find you a discount later. It's not worth the stress.
