For those that have been there, is the Bonnet Creek golf course ok for family's to play on or is it more of the serious golf crowd? In other words would it be enjoyable for me and my teenage son to play on being very casual golfers or would there be a course packed full of serious golfers wanting us to get out of the way...lol

I don't know. It's actually attached to the Waldorf, so it will be pricey, but I don't know whether or not that translates into "serious golfers" or just "people with money who want to play golf."

Hi, Brian's comments are right on. The Walforf course would love to have you but you will spend a lot to play, tip a lot, and for casual golf it is probably a waste of money as there are some other fun options close if you are staying at Bonnet Creek.
I work as a starter 3 months a year at Mystic Dunes which is the about the closest course to Disney outside of Disney. So I am pretty familiar with golf in the area.
Suggestions would include:
The 9 hole executive walking course at Disney, Oak Trail. Fun little course that can get crowded but handy and close.

For 18 holes most 15-25 minute drive courses will have decent prices in the summer, much higher in the winter. Close to Disney is Mystic Dunes...

http://www.mysticdunesgolf.com/ ...really pretty course that is not a "Florida Course" with lots of water but more links style...5 sets of tees so anybody can play it. Use WHITE pr GOLD tees if not a really good player.

Nice "Florida Course" that is close is Falcon's Fire
http://falconsfire.com/ ...lots of water, very green, sand traps everywhere!!

Orange Lake (HUGE time share place) just a few miles down 192 from Disney has 3 courses, one is lighted walking 9 hole par 3 that you can play past dark. Other courses are nice, especially the Palmer course.

If other questions, let us know...Ted

Thanks for the reply's!

I figured Oak Trail was our best bet. Bonnet Creek is one of the places we are considering staying, so obviously it would be convenient. I would spend a little more because of that convenince, but with-in reason. We probably aren't wanting to play bad enough to venture of Disney property as we won't be renting a car.

My son really enjoys golf, but doesn't get to do it much because of bigger commitments to other sports. It would just be father/son holiday time different from the usual Disney stuff.

Oak Trail was the one that came to mind to me too---and, if you have Disney tickets with the "water park & more" option, you can use those "visits" for greens fees at that course.

My wife and I played Oak Trail many years ago. I golf regularly (though I did take a break for a few years) and am an average player.

I have not played Bonnet Creek but I would suggest Oak Trail. It's very well maintained and a pretty easy course to walk. It feels like a full course (not shortened or cheapened as some 9 hole courses can be) but you won't wilt in the sun from walking 18.

My preference is to hit the first tee at the crack of dawn. Golf courses always look best when the grass is still damp and the early morning sun is coming up.

Yes the course is pricey, but it is almost always dead empty. While I've never played it, every time I've been at the Waldorf/Hilton I've only seen one or two groups on the course. Point being, you should be able to have a relaxing time...

Thanks for the reply. That is kind of what I wanted to know. If we don't mind paying we can have some relaxing fun. I didn't see the pricing on their website, anyone know if its online anywhere?
