I have booked 4 nights at bonnet creek through an owner on vrbo. I arrive within 2 weeks and still have no reservation or condirmation from the owner. At what point should I receive this? I have sent a couple of emails...no reply and just left a voice mail tonight. Can i call Bonnet Creekdirectly to see if I am in their system?

When I make an internal reservation using Wyndham points, I get the confirmation by email nearly instantly. You can call the resort, but it might be too early for them to have a record of your stay, I'm not sure.

It is possible that the owner is on vacation, and not able to respond. That does happen, and it is a holiday week.

I think it would be a good idea ... to call WBC
(when within 2 weeks of vacation)

and give your Name and Dates ... to check = confirmation.

** that's what I did ... to ease my mind ~ over not having the confirmation letter (snail mail) ...
due to last minute booking **

Historically Bonnet Creek will get your reservation in their local system around the 2 week mark. Prior to that it would just be in the main Wyndham reservation system. I say historically since I know Wyndham upgraded their systems earlier this year so I don't know if this process changed. It would never hurt to call the resort directly and inquire if they have your reservation in the system.

As Brian mentioned, owners usually get their confirmation of the reservation within 24-48hrs. When you rent, I don't know if there is an extra delay on Wyndham's side when the owner makes a Guest Confirmation request.

Even if there isn't, it really can depend on when the owner makes the Guest request on the reservation. Wyndham charges the owners a fee for putting a guest on the reservation, so different renters will handle things differently. Often they may wait to put the reservation in your name for a variety of reasons such as to protect themselves if you cancel (while they can get a refund of their points up until the last minute, they can't always get a guest fee refund), or to simplify their process of attempting to rebook to take advantage of last minute discounts.

Since Wyndham will send the final guest confirmation to the owner, it would then be up to them to forward it along to you.... which means it could also simply be a case of renter forgetting to pass it along or it's getting snagged for some reason by a spam filter.

Your best bets would be to continue trying to contact the owner directly (Remember, it's a holiday so don't be too surprised if they don't get back to you immediately), and to contact the resort itself to see if they have your name in their system.

Bonnet creek would not tell me anything as I did not book directly with them. I am suppose to arrive exactly two weeks tomorrow. I paid in full when i booked with vrbo back in march.....i am starting to get nervous....i know it is the holiday and all but when i did a reservation for dvc the lady immediately sent our confirmation as soon as she recd money. I am afraid we will get there and have no room.

I have mine already at 30 days out. I hope I'm talking apples to apples. it's an email with my information from WBC.

Try again. From what we've learned, They literally do not have any record of your reservation in the local system until 2 weeks from check-in day. (Not the weekend before your 2 weeks... and not 2 weeks and a day.) Once it's in the local system at the resort, they should be able to look up your name as the reservation. Before that 2 weeks date the only way they could find it is to look up the Owner's reservation and check the guest certificate status in the master Timeshare reservation system.

When you call, I'd recommend not even mentioning you are renting from an owner at first. Just call up and say you are due to check in on xx day and the reservation should be under your name (or whatever name you gave to VRBO). If they ask, you can always mention you are staying on a guest certificate of a member... but I wouldn't volunteer the information since the LOCAL resort system usually has the name of the guest checking in and not necessarily the owner's information as the primary name the reservation is under.

Kelley, did you call and get confirmation that you are registered?

Inquiring minds want to know! :flower3:

I did finally get a confirmation from the owner. What i think is odd is it is under a different person's name(owner) than the one I rented from and my name was the only one on the confirmation as the only guest. I think i will trynto call wbc on monday to just confirm the reservation. Thanks everyone for giving advice and helping me out.

maybe odd... but also not that unusual. Wyndham doesn't allow the "renting" or transfer of points from one owner to the next (like DVC does). So what you will sometimes see from some commercial renters who are basically renting someone else's points, is they end up having access to those secondary owners accounts to make the reservations. Instead of having all their rental inventory/points in their own name by holding the contract deeds, the basically juggle and manage several contracts under different owners and leverage all their potential inventory to get the best use out of it.

As a renter, in situations like this, you are often protected. The owner however is often getting screwed since their compensation for the usage of their points is often much less than the actual maintance fees for those posts for the year. (although, something can be better than nothing)
