Bongos

I will be in Disney World in December and am interested in eating at Bongo's. I am not familiar with Cuban food so I have no expectations as to what it may be like. Can you give me the good, the bad and the ugly on Bongos so I can make a decision on whether or not to be adventerous and give this place a try...thanks!

I absolutely LOVE Bongos, but I eat Cuban style food often. I'm sure there is something on the menu that is not too adventurous. I would give it a try. I just love the black beans and rice and the sweet plantains. HTH

Bongo's is VERY good. They are spicy, as in flavorful, not hot.
It is noisy. Butthe atmosphere is very nice. We have always had good servers.
They have a nice little gift shop too.

A few months ago for a dinner meal I prdered Papa Rellena (an appetizer) and a salad. That was more than enough. I did not even finish it all.

I was disappointed to be told Bongo's no longers honors DDE or AP eating discount. (They do accept DVC as a discount.)
We have a tendency to skip places that don't offer eating discounts since there are so many that do.

We LOVE Cuban food!! And we love Bongos!! We like to go in the afternoon for lunch and get cuban sandwiches. Try it!!

Bongos is awesome! If you want dinner food, though, you'll have to go at dinner time as they only serve sandwiches and plantain chips at lunch. I'd say go for dinner. My favorite is Pechuga de pollo ala plancha with white rice and sweet plantains. Oh, and you must have flan for dessert!

I am a big fan of Cuban food; my husband was very apprehensive about it. But, as he is a steak and potatoes kind of guy he absolutely loved Bongos. He just learned to like plantains instead of taters. You can check out the dinner menu here: http://allearsnet.com/menu/men_bon.htm

Being from South Florida, and because my DH is Cuban, we have NOT eaten at Bongo's...why would we? I go to my MIL's house if I want awesome Cuban Food! LOL! That said...Cuban food is AWESOME...it is not "spicy" like many people think it is. If someone likes "meat and potatoes" they surely will like Cuban food. Give it a try...I am SURE there will be something you will love!
