Has anyone eaten at Bongo's in DTD? Is it any good? We're looking at trying new and different places for us this trip, and we've never been there!

Thanks in advance! :Pinkbounc

I love Bongos. You will be very happy there, I would recommend that you try a sampler of the Cuban appetizers, they are all quite good.

For the main course, you can choose from a spicy churasco steak, or chicken or pork dishes that are really nice, and of course red beans and rice...

The atmosphere is great, I love the outdoors balcony, and the Pineapple bar too!!

We absolutely loved it !!!!!!
We had great food !!!!! We sat outside on the patio. It was a very romantic. We even had our pics taken there to remember it.
Try the margaritas...excellent !!!!!:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

We love Bongo's, have eaten several times both inside/outside.

If you like beer, try a cuban beer with your meal.

We ate inside and rate the atmosphere as just O.K. The lighting during the afternoon left much to be desired. The food was passable, but it wasn't good enough that we've been tempted in the least to return. It was not a terrible experience, but it wasn't at all impressive - mediocre.

I would have to agree with travelitis.

It was not our favorite place. We won't go back.
Service was sub standard...food medicore. Meat very dry.

Been there and gave them 3 chances - each time the food AND the service got worse.
Am also told by some Cuban friends that if you're really looking for Cuban food this is NOT the place to go.

We have eaten there three times and enjoyed each one. We usually did an early dinner. And in January especially, that means the place is DEAD. So our service was always great. :)
The food is flavorful and has spices-- but not spicey.
The prices on our items were slightly less than eating at a Disney restaurant.
HOB was good too. :)

The first time at Bongo's, we ate lunch. I wasn't all that hungry and just had a dinner salad and something else (or maybe just the salad?). I do remember the salad was good, but not very big at all and steep in $ for no bigger than it was. I think it cost $7 and I was expecting more along the lines of a SALAD. It was a small, side salad, at best.

Bongos is a big joke between my dh and I. We always sarcastically mention we can't miss eating at Bongos. Jimmy Buffet's Margueritaville (sp?), on the other hand, was great. That same trip we ate at the one in Key West, and we'd return to either.
