Just found out that the first Bonfire celebration this year is 3rd November, the evening we're due to leave :(
For an extra £33.00 I can book new flights for the 4th November and an extra night at the Kyriad for £49.00.

Worth it ???

and I will have to either lie to Liam's school as he's going to be a day late starting back after half term or pay the fine :worried:

Morning Jill no help at all here sorry.
What time does it start ?o
Our train leaves at 6 that night.
I'm having to do that for my boys too it's a mare isn't it !!

I LOVE the fireworks over Lake Disney - even more so that we don't have actual fireworks now!

I think those are good prices - and who's to say your flights didn't get delayed or your transport back to the airport didn't have a problem????

I very much doubt you'll get a fine, small print states "10 sessions off unauthorised" (Liam will have 2) and the school then have to go to the local authority who issue the fine if they think its justified.

I reckon you should go for it!

whilst i really enjoyed watching the bonfire fireworks over the lake, its very Dreams! like - in that its about 30 minutes of lazers and fireworks, synchronised to music.

Dreams! and evening fireworks of any description weren't a feature at DLP when I saw the bonfire fireworks, so it was worth staying to see it because of that. But now, with Dreams! on, I personally wouldn't extend my stay to see the bonfire fireworks.

They historically start at around 8.30pm, and run for half an hour. They are free to come and see as they are lakeside, so loads of non-DLP guests come to watch it too.

Ah really?? I loved the fact I saw Sorcerer Mickey on a boat doing his stuff to the music of Fantasmic, and the use of non-Disney music too.
I would extend because I'd like that extra night of not rushing (we leave after park closing and travel home through the night as I can't cope with half days!) and not feel like I'm missing out. I personally don't like missing anything and have been known to stay three days longer than I should :-D

Mmm I agree, we loved them when we saw them for the first time last year. ::yes:: So much so that we have booked the same for this year - a week in a Golden Forest room at the Sequoia Lodge which means we can do Halloween at the beginning of the holiday and at the end watch the bonfire fireworks from our hotel window in comfort. An unexpected bonus was that the park was really quiet after Halloween too. I thought the firework show seemed quite different from Dreams and the actual fireworks were spectacular.

I would definitely stay on to see it the once while you can do so relatively easily and cheaper. :goodvibes

You going for it Jill ?
If I could add extra night on for that much i defo do it.
If we do October again next year I will keep this in mind I'd really like to see it.
:goodvibes

Thanks for all the info. :thumbsup2

Liam is year 10, so GCSE's next year and on reflection probably not the best time to take days off and he agrees.

We're already banking on Monday being a training day, but his Head of Year can't confirm this yet, although Lisa when I asked him what to do, he said just "lie like everyone else does !!!" So we might be having a delayed flight :sad2:

Just our of interest what time are the fireworks usually held, wondering if there's any chance of catching them before we leave. Our flight is at 9.30pm.

It starts at 20:30 and finishes about 20 minutes to half an hour later.

I saw the fireworks last year and was bitterly disappointed. The music they used was for the most part not Disney, not recognisable and really bad in terms of quality, both musically and technically. The fireworks were very second rate compared to previous years and not a patch on Dreams! and Wishes. Lots of green lasers that don't keep time with the music if that's your thing ;) Your local display will be better.

I actually agree. I've seen Bonfire two year (2011 and 2012) and I share your opinion.

Were they that bad last year?? We went home on the Friday and didn't stay for them and this is quite sad that they were disappointing! (I don't think anything, in any park, will match up to Dreams. Though dare I say it, I've seen it so many times in the Park that sometimes, something a little different, is good by me :-) )

It honestly was - I was bitterly disappointed as it was one of the reasons I went a day earlier than necessary. I have some video footage somewhere - I'll try to find and upload it.

I was actually amazed I was watching something of this low quality on a Disney property, as in the past it's been amazing.

Thanks for the times dlrpwonders, guess we won't catch any of it then, thanks for the input Steve I don't feel so bad about missing it now. :)
