I have been reading al ot about Boma's on the boards. How would a 6 year old and a 1.5 year old handle it?? We have never been to AKL would it be interesting for the kids to walk around a little?? (thinking of dinner)

Any thoughts would be muchappreciated!!

Hi there...

Boma's is a busy, hustle, bustle kind of place... I'm sure your family would be fine there.

I recall seeing high chairs for your little one.. and your 6 year old will love it too.

If your 6 year old is not an adventurous eater there is an area which features spaghetti, mac & cheese, chicken nuggests and french fries.

The main buffet area has some wonderful choices and many dishes have an "african" flair. We really enjoyed our meal here.

THere is also lots of fresh fruits, salads and breads and did I mention DESSERTS!

Also this is where I had the best pina coladas.. yum..!

Boma also does breakfast too.

Enjoy your holiday here is the link to the dinner menu

There is plenty to eat for the little ones. When we were there, my children had pb&j sandwiches and pasta. The desserts were a big hit. They loved the plastic glasses that the drinks came in. We still have them. Make priority seating reservations- it's a popular spot.

My kids (not to mention my husband!) are real fusspots and they were thrilled with Boma on our first visit, last month. Truly something for everyone. My daughter loves a buffet because she can get just what she likes and leave the other stuff. The kids' food was presented beautifully. For example, the pb&j sandwiches are triple-decker and cut into little triangles. My kids ate 4 or 5 apiece! My husband also tried some of the spaghetti and meatballs from the kids' buffet and pronounced it delicious. There was so much nice fruit and the desserts are made in tiny portions so you can try many. The place is busy and noisy so your kids won't have to be extra quiet. The only thing to consider is that it IS a buffet -- you'll have to get up yourselves so you'll have to take turns helping your smallest child.

Do try this wonderful, fun place. We are looking forward to our next visit already!

I would also add that AKL would be a great place to walk around before or after dinner. There are lots of places to look at the animals - little alcoves in the hallways to the rooms as well as Arusha Rock just outside of the main lobby. The animals are there at night as well as the day time. CMs have night vision scopes available later at night (I think it was 10PM which is probably too late for your little ones). The lobby itself is quite impressive. The store also has some very nice African and animal related things - my husband and I bought a beautiful piece of pottery.

Be sure to save room for dessert. And if you like margaritas, try a Kilimarita.

we wanted a nice calm dinner and sent our 6yo DD to the Kids Klub there; she had a wonderful time with a grandmotherly lady; got to watch a video; got yummy kid food, and it didn't cost much more than a Boma meal for her would have cost. we wanted to have a leisurely meal and she definitely would have made us rush it. you could plan your meal around the baby's naptime if this appeals.

My then 3 year old loved it for breakfast. It was one of the best meals we had on our Dec. 2001 trip.

Boma is definitly worth it! When we went, our son was just a little over 3. There is so much variety there, that I am sure you can find something that will appeal to everyone. Also, as mentioned, AKL is a great place to walk around before or after you meal! We will definitly go back there!

Sorry to throw in a different opinion...but, don't get your hopes up! Seeing the resort was a nice experience, but Boma will not be on our return list of to-do's....
