I have ressies for my birthday for Bomas. I am starting to chicken out and think about eating off property at Melting Pot if I can get babysitting that night. What kind of steak is on the buffet at Bomas? I know that the taste of Bomas in the AKL room service is prime rib and as delicious as it gets but I can not imagine Prime Rib on the actual buffet. I am a local so I will be driving over and paying cash OoP either way.

Boma's buffet is on a rotating schedule throughout the week. If there is a red meat at the carving station, it will be Prime Rib. There is normally a choice between a "medium" Prime Rib and a "medium well" Prime Rib.

Sorry to disappoint you but I do believe they took Prime Rib off the buffet.

I studied this towards the end of last year because I am a nut for Prime Rib. As it turns out, there is no Prime Rib on the buffet since the middle of last year and the beef cut is a strip loin (close but not Prime Rib).

I was totally disappointed with the beef selection at Boma. The food was ok, but not what we were expecting.

If you are looking for Prime Rib for your birthday you need to pick a steakhouse, those are the only places serving it now.

(cutbacks I guess).

They do have beef on the carving station, but it's not a high quality steak like prime rib so if you want delicious beef, Boma is not your place.

Go to Boma for the soups, salads & ethnic specialties, but not for beef.

Have you thought about going to Jiko instead if you can get a baby sitter?

DH and I had one of the best meals there back in September, we still talk about it, plus our server was wonderful! It is pricier than Boma and not a buffet, but a birthday is something to celebrate, right?

Definitely. If you are looking for steak, go to Jiko instead. I had an amazing filet there a few years back!

Go to Boma is you are looking for variety and different tastes.
