I'm a Boma fan. I 110% agree with you on the soups. They rock. But I would say the rest of the buffet is better than mediocre or worse. The carved meat station and its sauces also rocks. And there are enough good options to choose from to provide each guest with a good meal.

And if you are lucky, ask your server if you can get a glass of frunch if you are at dinner. Sometimes they will provide it to you even though it is a juice intended for breakfast. It is the best juice on property.

Casual, park clothes are fine.
Don't forget to get a Zebra dome if you go. And they have a nice selection of Hummus that we really enjoy!

Yes.

This was my fear before our first trip; I don't even do normal-Mexican-spicy, let alone hot-Indian-spicy. But while the dishes at Boma do often have different kinds of spices, not many of them are hot. LOVED the African-type BBQ sauce they had as a side to the meats at the carving station; I believe it's made with Tamarind? Not a spice we see much at home.

Hot-spicy dishes should be marked. If you are not sure, ask one of the CMs/chefs/carvers. Note that because the menu items rotate a lot, you have to check each time based on what's being served that day. First time we went the salmon dish was crusted with pistachios; delish. Next time we went the salmon dish was topped with all kinds of hot peppers; run away! So it's no good making blanket statements like "avoid the salmon" because they rotate things. And no, there is no set schedule that I know of for the rotation.

As far as clothes go, it seems that most people were wearing a little bit nicer than what you would wear in the parks... more on the end of nice casual than casual casual (if that makes any sense!)

I totally disagree with the statement that aside from the soups that the food is mediocre or worse. Everything there is unique and tasty! Try a tiny bit of everything and form your opinions on what you like best and go back for seconds (or thirds) on your favorites!

No. Other than Victoria and Alberts there are no formal restaurants and WDW. They realize people are there to visit the theme parks and they expect you to be dressed as such.
