Boma Vs Jiko???

Boma vs Jiko??? we love, love, love Boma .... is Jiko worth giving up a meal at Boma for? wondering- if we enjoy Boma so much, would we love Jiko as much or even more?? will be a AKL for 2 nights... trust you guys if you think it will be worth it, Boma is just our all time WDW favorite! We like interesting tastes- going to try Marakesh this time.. what about Spoodles? thanks!

You're comparing apples to oranges!

Boma is a buffet. Interesting, but nonetheless a buffet.

Jiko is fine dining. The atmosphese, service, presentation are all incredible.

Jiko is my favorite WDW restaurant. Boma doens't even make the top ten.

at Jiko is unique, and if your a picky eater, could easily ruin a meal. I am a picky eater, and ate their twice on my last trip. Their Filet was incredible, and truly a wonderful meal, by my other meal, I got a chicken dish that I couldn't choke down. My friend like the chicken dish, but it was simply a taste I did not like in anyway. I liked it better than Boma, both being very good, however, if you stumble accross a bad dish at boma, you can get something else. At Jiko, ouch!

I would recommend Jiko and say try it providing you don't have a picky eater. If you do, be careful.

Easy enough to check out the Jiko menu..
It's one of my favorite WDW restaurants and I don't think the food is that unusual, or too exotic for most tastes. Heck--the Filet comes with Macaroni and Cheese!!
By the way, that Filet is an excellent dish, as is the Braised Lamb Shank.

We have PS for both of these places in September, but we have never tried them before. We are doing dinner at Jiko and breakfast at Bomo (only staying at AKL one night). The menus sound interesting.

Boma is my family's favorite, too!!!! Even my picky dd6 and ds8 LOVE it!!!! Come to think of it, they were 4 and 6 last time they were there and still loved it. We've got a PS June 20th. Can't wait!!!!

Try going on a Tuesday night for the marinated flank steak - Yummmmmm.

We decided not to try Jiko after perusing the menu and comparing prices. We love good food, but not gourmet food. Decided Jiko was too complex (and pricey) for us simple southern folk.

If you are a wine buff, I understand Jiko has an outstanding selection of south african wines that is not to be missed. Again, my tastes are not refined enough to know the difference, so it would all be wasted on me!!!!

I have eaten at both. I LOVED Boma. This is a must do for us. Jiko was over priced, dark, barren, bland food, and terrible service. Eat at Boma and enjoy.

When we stay at AKL we will do both. Boma has some dishes you will not find anywhere else at WDW but it is a bulk buffet set-up. It is also quite noisy and people are constantly walking past your table. Lot's of kids, but the food is acceptable. Jiko is rather quiet but the menu can be challenging. The servers are quite helpful in assisting with choices and wines if you desire. If you want a chance to talk to each other without having to raise your voice try Jiko's, if you are more quantity than quality oriented go to Boma's. Both will give you a good meal at reasonable value.

Don't know if you can compare a buffet with finer dining.

Jiko, currently is our favorite WDW restaurant. It is a must-do on every trip. The atmosphere is very relaxing and we have always had exceptional service. If you want dinner in less than an hour, go to the buffet.

The menu reads exotic, but they still have beef, chicken, roast pork, and salmon. My wife raves about the salmon and the chicken is quite tasty as well as the filet mignon. Some of the spices are different and we have found some unusual wines!

They have a great dessert, Tanzanian Chocolate Candies. Small in size, but lots of flavor.

I am not what I would call a picky eater but not very adventurous until the last few years. I have eaten at Boma twice in the past and liked it alot though there were some items that I didn't care for, there were some that I liked that the others didn't. I just returned from a long trip to WDW and had the most expensive meal of my trip at my first visit to Jiko. I like the way one above person put it that the menu is "challenging". It is indeed and interesting menue and even when you think you understand what they are saying when it is brought to the table it is not quite what you have in mind. It was very high quality food with a twist hear and there. The Filet on macaroni and cheese was very good though the mac and cheese is much richer than any normal mac and cheese. It worked well with the mushroom ragout. The beef rolls were great but the banana relish took some tasting and I am still unsure if I liked it. Be aware that they put flowers on some of the food!
