We are staying at AKV for our next trip, and thus Boma will be right outside our door. Currently we don't have it in our plan to eat there, but I'm wondering if I'm going to regret this decision. We are breakfast people, so if we do go that would be the meal I would choose. I keep reading it is the best, and don't want to miss out on this fabulous meal that I will walk past every morning. So I have a few ?s to help me decide. Your random comments and opinions would also be appreciated :)

1. My husband is NOT a foodie, and would eat nothing but cheese pizza and PBJ sandwiches for the rest of his life happily. Is there enough plain food to satisfy him?

2. What is their french toast thing like? The one thing DH does love for breakfast is french toast, but if it is too weird - this won't go well.

3. If we ate there at 7:30 when they opened, would we have a chance of still being at RD for Epcot at 9 AM?

4. If it came down to doing Tonga Toast at the Poly or the breakfast buffet at Boma which would you rather? (This would be the case if #3 won't work.)

5. Is it really all its cracked up to be or am I just getting sucked in?

Thanks!

We loved Boma breakfast. We ate there 3 times when we stayed at AKL. It is mostly "regular" breakfast food, just done very well. My favorites were the juice, omelets, grilled tomatoes and the chocolate pastries (which are to die for, but you can also get those at the Mara!). I *think* you can get to EP for rope drop, mainly because you set your own pace at breakfast, and EP is pretty close to AK (compared to say MK or DTD). But, you know, it kind of depends on when the bus shows up. I don't remember anything about french toast, but here's the menu from allears.net:

Breakfast features over 45 different items!

Menu Items Always Subject to Change

Your Choice of Orange Juice or West African Frunch (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice).

Pastries - muffins, breads, almond bear claw, scones, assortment of cream cheeses including sundried tomato, bagels, Danish, and zebra bread

Seasonal Fresh Fruits - cantaloupe, honeydew, mango, papaya, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple.

Dried Fruits including mango, papaya, coconut

Cereals - granola, rice crispies, fruit loops, and raisin bran

Pancakes and Waffles

Omelets made to order with a selection of ingredients.

Sausage and Biscuit Skillet

Bacon and Sausage and Ham

Potatoes with red and green pepper and paprika

Scrambled Eggs

Brioche (like French toast, yummmy! with raisins)

Pap (white corn meal), oatmeal, quinoa porridge; toppings included fruits, brown sugar and cinnamon

Bobotie - corn beef, eggs, cream, potato and onion

Vegetable and Meat Lovers Breakfast Pizza

Cured pork loin

Carved Breakfast Ham

Does anyone have current pricing for Boma dinner?

Trying to figure out if we should get DDP or Pay OOP.

We ate there last year for breakfast and loved it. My kids and I are definately like your husband- we like nothing weird and dont want to try funky things. We found plenty to eat there and liked it so much we are going to eat there again during our May trip:thumbsup2
Your DH will have no problems finding "regular" food there.

Dinner prices on allears.net are listed as $30.88 for adults and $14.99 for children (tax and gratitudity not included). These are the non-peak prices. It doesn't say how much would be added for peak times.

Boma's breakfast was the best I've ever had, anywhere. If you're big breakfast eaters, it'd be a shame not to stop in at least once during your stay.

The great majority of the foods are traditional breakfast things, no unusual seasonings. There are a (very) few more exotic foods. There's such a huge variety offered that I can't imagine even the pickiest eater not being able to stuff themselves silly.:thumbsup2

I'm not overly adventurous and found plenty to eat at Boma for breakfast and even found out I really like their goat cheese and chive scrambled eggs. We now make them at home sometimes.

I don't remember french toast, but if there was it was standard ft, not weird.

Should be able to do that, yeah. Even if your breakfast takes an hour, which it should NOT at a buffet that early, you still have 30 minutes to get to Epcot.

4. If it came down to doing Tonga Toast at the Poly or the breakfast buffet at Boma which would you rather? (This would be the case if #3 won't work.)

I'm a french toast purist and did not like Tonga Toast. Kona's other breakfast offerings are very good, though. When we are there next month I'm just getting regular french toast (or DW and I will split a Big Kahuna).

Boma is arguably the best breakfast buffet on property. Certainly a top three or five breakfast buffet on property.

Last time i checked it is $18.99 for breakfast at Boma for adults! I believe it to be the best non-character breakfast on property. We're having breakfast there on April 23! :thumbsup2

If you want to try both Boma and the Tonga Toast, go to Boma and then get the Tonga Toast another morning at the counter service at the Poly. I don't know what the CS is called - Captain something? . It is supposed to be the exact same dish as served at the Kona.

I'm a big french toast fan as well, and I found the Tonga Toast to be just okay. I do love the french toast sticks that are served at most WDW breakfast buffets, however. They are deep fried! When I first saw them I thought that was a horrible idea, what an affront to french toast fans everywhere! But tasting them quickly changed my mind.

Oh, I forgot to add - we did not care for breakfast at Kona. Granted, we did not try Tonga Toast, but what we did try was just *okay*. Sorry for saying this, but Cracker Barrel and Waffle House beat Kona by a mile.
