Can anyone tell me when they have the ribs at Boma? Hoping to hear back from someone who has been recently and saw them there. Thanks!!

Hi

We've been to Boma multiple times both occasions we've been to WDW (in 2004 and 2006) and I have to say I don't remember ever seeing ribs. Also, checking allears.net, it isn't listed although the menu does change regularly so I guess you may get lucky...

Sorry I couldn't be more help but maybe someone can say for sure.

There was a rotation schedule on these boards, but it was a year or two ago. I would recommend calling the restaurant.

I remember them being there over Spring Break about 2 years back... But when I went last Summer, I didn't see them there.

I remember reading that the ribs were served on Wednesday and Saturday nights ... I can't say for sure though because I can't get the search function to work for me.

There were no ribs in December '06, DH was specifically looking for them. Lots of other great meat though!

Boma had the ribs last time I was there. They have them on certain nights.

I would also love to know. Thats the main reason I went last year and they did not have them that Sunday night. My friend said it was the best she ever had! You think I should try to switch my ressie to Sat Night?

We normally go on Saturday nights and they have them then. According to this listing of the current rotation, they have them on Saturdays and Wednesdays. I would try to switch the reservation if you can.

Roasted ribs???? The best???? Haven't had the ribs at Boma but roasting, baking, grilling, etc is not bbq, and the best ribs are q'ed.

The ribs at Big River Grille and Flame Tree are smoked low & slow, almost as good as mine, hehe. The sauce at BRG is very good also. Ribs at Flame Tree were naked, no sauce, just a good dry rub.

Boma isn't an American diner. Roasted over a wood fire is quite good. Sometimes I really don't care for the over smoked BBQ'd style so common in the USA. The main benifit of traditional BBQ is the slow cooking at lower temps. Makes meats much more tender. But slow cooking can be done any number of ways. BBQ just adds a ton of smoke to it which has its pluses and minuses.

Huff,
When the menu says roasted I didn't think of a wood fire, I thought of oven roasting. If Boma uses a wood fire with indirect heat then they do serve smoked ribs, maybe I need to check them out. Traditional bbq is smoked, be it with wood as the fuel source or wood chunks/chips added to charcoal or gas for smoke. Even just using some types of charcoal for fuel with no smoke wood will smoke the meat a bit. BBQ doesn't add a ton of smoke flavor, bad cooks do.

As far as the amount of smoke taste imparted to the food, that's all up to the cook. Most people, including me, don't like heavy smoke taste to the food. Just the right amount of smoke though gives incredible flavor. Perhaps just as important as the amount of smoke wood is the type of wood used for different meats. Mesquite and Hickory can be overpowering for pork ribs (baby back and spares), I use apple and cherry and / or pecan for pork, gives it a sweet smoke flavor.
