I have read about Boma's several times on these threads and don't remember ever seeing this place. Where is it and what type of restaurant is it?

Thank you so much!!

Boma is a buffet restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge. They serve breakfast & dinner. . . . . and the food is absolutely awesome!!! ;) The food is African cuisine - spiced (as in flavorful) but not spicy. HTH

The night we were there they had about 80 items on their buffet. The generally have a couple of meat dishes (Prime Rib and a Marinated Flank Stead), a fish dish (a salmon), Bobatie, which is a hamburger quiche (and very good). They have some really good soups. And then a whole bunch of side dishes - rice dishes, couscous dishes, salads, fruit, potato dishes. Finally, they have an extensive dessert area.

We were a little disappointed - I think I'd heard such raves that I was expecting better. But it is a very good buffet, and the AKL - if you haven't been there - is worth a trip to see.

thanks for your response. I won't have a car... so do you suggest that I take the bus from Animal Kingdom to tour and have supper?

The problem is getting back.

We stayed at BWVs and took a cab there and back - it was $10 or $15 and well worth it. You can get a bus from any open theme park to AKL. Getting back - if the parks are still open you can grab a bus to the park and transfer to a bus to your resort. If they aren't open, you take a bus to DTD and then transfer to your resort.

This is one meal where budgeting for a cab is worth the bother.

it is a 5 minute ride on the AKL bus to the hotel. As a fan of AKL, I say it is worth it to see the resort and eat at Boma's. As other posters have pointed out, to return you will need to take the bus some place else and transfer after AK has closed. Try it, you will like it. No one will go away hungry........:D

Another vote for Boma - we all loved it.

You don't say if you are travelling with Kids . We took 4 with us, 3 of our own & eldest DS's girlfriend. They all ate loads & there is alot for them to choose from, if they don't eat spicy food.

They thought seeing the animals outside at night was great, and have asked to go again.

We have a great story about transportation from AKL after most of the parks closed (Epcot was still open). We had planned ot catch the first bus that came, no matter where it was going, presumming it would be DTD, or Epcot. well the MK bus arrived, and was on it's way back to pick up more guest leaving MK at the end of the evening. When we got on of course the driver said MK was closed. We told he we planned to hop on the Monorail at MK to get to the contemporary. He let us on and then readioed for permission to drop at off at CR. He dropped us right at the front doors for the NGW. It was great. We had the whole bus to ourselves.
