A very helpful cast member at WDW-DINE helped me decide to get an ADR for Boma but now I have a bunch of questions...

1. My ADR is for 4:40 on 12/2 (which would be perfect) but everything I've ever read (include All Ears) says that the restaurant opens at 5:00...What time does it actually open?

2. I saw a thread that said the breakfast foods are marked on the buffet with whether they contain nuts or other common allergenic ingredients...do they do this at dinner? If not, can you ask your waiter to tell you which contain nuts?

3. If you are there on the meal plan are there any other sort of specialty drinks like smoothies or juices that have been included or is it just soda?

4. What kid-friendly (and non-adventurous husband) foods do they have?

5. Besides the zebra domes, which desserts must I try!?!?

Thanks for any help!

Hi! We went to Boma last month and LOVED it! I can't help you with your ADR question, but I can tell you about my experience with questions #2 & 3.

I do not recall seeing anything on the buffet with allergy warnings, but my DD and I are vegetarians and DD has a severe egg allergy. The first thing that our waitress asked us was if anyone at our table had any dietary restrictions or food allergies. After we explained our situation, she brought one of the chefs over to me who walked me through the entire buffet. It was very helpful. I'm sure that they would be extra attentive to someone with a nut allergy.

Dining plan drinks...as of three weeks ago dining plan participants were entitled to a specialty drink at Boma. I think that there were three or four smoothie choices (I had the mango, DH had berry...both were very tasty). Capacinnos and lattes could also be ordered as a specialty drink.

There seemed to be several less exotic foods for kids, etc. I was pretty stuffed by the time I got to dessert, but everything I tried was great!

They always have either Prime rib or pork tenderloin at the carving station for non-adventurous husbands....and he is welcome to things like mac and cheese, chicken fingers, etc on the kids buffet. He will also find plenty of deserts...I would suggest trying a little of everything on the dessert table....most are to die for!!!

Have a great meal...it is one of our absolute favorites.

We also have adr for 4:40 time. Our is 12/9, and yes the last time I ate there it did not open until 5. Maybe is 4:30 now. Anyway, the food is great, one of our favorite places to eat.

Boma is quite tasty. The meats should appeal to your husband, as they are not very adventurous. They also have some more “standard” type side dishes like roasted potatoes, mac & cheese, etc. The desserts are all excellent so save some room! I once ate there with a friend who is lactose intolerant. A chef came to our table and let her know what foods to avoid. They are very helpful all throughout Disney when dealing with food allergies. Enjoy your meal!

If they made a reservation for you at 4:40 then I'm sure it's fine. They wouldn't book anything if the restaurant wouldn't be open!

There are workers (chefs or servers?) behind the buffet pods at all times who are itching to help you out so if you need anything, just ask.

Not every dish is exotic, and even some of the "exotic" ones aren't far from familiar with some sort of variation.

Try the banana pudding with the vanilla sauce for dessert - it was so moist and delicious!

Let me just say that when I ate there I was TOTALLY pleased!

I nearly made myself sick on the apricot cakes! The zebra domes were good too, but I LOVED the apricot cakes.

The soups were not very "wild" and were sooo yummy.

We ate at Boma last March and loved it. The prime rib and roasted chicken and roast pork are all good for non-adventurous meat loving people. They also have good potatoes. My DH ate off the kids section too because he loves mac and cheese.

The bread pudding there is out of this world, and there was a coconut tiramisu-like dessert I also likes. There really isn't a bad thing in the dessert area that I could remember. I would pay just to eat the desserts there!

This settles it! I have got to make an ADR for Boma!

We were there recently and had an ADR for 4:50. When we got there, people were already in the restaurant eating. I am guessing they open around 4:30 but haven't made it widely known.

They do open at 4:30pm now. We went in Feb. and called that day to make a PS and were given the times of 4:30 or 8. I asked and they said they open now at 4:30.

They do have a few breakfast items with nuts, they are located on their own pod. Everything else is "safe". I've had breakfast there twice with no problem.

I would NOT NOT NOT eat there for dinner with nut allergies. The place is a breeding ground for nuts. There was almost nothing I could eat--Pap and roast pork, and I don't eat pork. Nothing at all on the dessert pod is safe. Do yourself a HUGE favor and don't risk it at dinner. I also found them to be less than helpful, the chef rushed me through the pods and left.

Thanks Anne...based on that and the fact that dh freaked when I showed him the menu I think we are going to cancel this ADR and plan another dinner--Thanks everyone for the information!

We ate at Boma's a few weeks ago and it is now my favorite!

We were offered smoothies and specialty coffees on the dining plan.

I'm a picky eater and found plenty of delicious food - I loved the spices they used.

Try the pineapple cheesecake - yum!!!
