Boma or Whispering Canyon?

My DH and I just added another day onto our vacation ( ) and so we have another TS credit we can use. We booked Boma for that night before we leave, but I'm wondering what people think of Whispering Canyon?

I think WC would be more up our alley (we love BBQ and will have our 4yo DD with us) but my DH had said he saw the menu at Boma and wanted to book it. I need to be nice and not fight him on it - we both agreed on the luau and Planet Hollywood, but I picked Chef Mickey's, Akershus, Yak & Yeti's, Hollywood and Vine and Tony's He only got to choose Cape May Cafe )

So what are everyone's thoughts on both restaurants?

I haven't been to either, but have them planned for our T'giving trip. I was soooo very disappointed with Akershus dinner that I say you cancel it and then go to both Boma and WCC.

I just read the descriptions to my DH and he agreed to switch to WCC. Once I read a review about "if you have picky eaters, you may have a problem" regarding Boma, then told him WCC was bbq, he cut me off and said "Book it"

She will definitely love it then! So many princesses and Belle is absolutely gorgeous in her ball gown for pictures. Just make sure you save up some snack credits so you can snack your way through the countries afterward. We did not enjoy our dinners at all. My DH will eat anything and he made me promise we'd never go back there again for dinner. That's just our opinion though. I'm sure someone else will come through and tell you something differently.

It's totally worth it to meet the princesses.

Last year we went to WCC for the first time before the MVMCP. We rode the ferry over from MK and enjoyed the walk up to the resort. It is spectacular. We were one of the first tables seated for dinner at 5p.m. or close to it. I ordered the steak and it was actually better than the one I got at Ca Grill--honestly. Then my DH and Parents got the All you can Eat Meal. It was impressive. Brisket, pulled pork I think and ribs, cornbread, slaw, baked beans and something else. Everyone said it was good. It was a ton of food for 1 credit. We are doing it again this year before th MNSSHP 10/31. I think it is better if you get there early. It is a bit loud but fun, there were lots of CM antics and I don't want to give that one away. It was one of our best meals. The children got to ride stick horses around the dinning room. This will be our first trip staying DVC at AKV and I have booked Boma for a late breakfast one morning....can't wait to eat there.

Tony's does not get rave reviews although I have never eaten there. If you are going to the MK to eat at Tony's I would cancel it and do WCC. You get the ferry ride over and back to MK, the terrific resort lobby and wonderful theme of the Great West. So it would be a good option to replace it. I just think you will enjoy seeing that resort and the boat ride is a ride unto itself.

DH and I, no children, did not enjoy our food at Akershus when we went several years ago for the Princess Breakfast. The Princesses were beautiful though and it was fun getting to see Esmerelda. It was a one time thing and we have not eaten there again. Your little one will love it though....I agree with snacking after that.

With our schedule, we won't be able to make any other switches - we are there for 9 days, but only have a 5 day base ticket (DH and I have been to WDW several times and know what DD will like, so hopping isn't a big deal. For the money, we decided to stick with base tickets)

We're at MK for two days in a row (Wednesday and Thursday). First MK day we got Tony's because she doesn't care for Winnie the Pooh (so no Crystal Palace) and we couldn't get CRT. It's the only "Italian" restaurant we're eating at the whole time we're there, so I don't mind if it's not the best - we have plenty of other restaurants we'll be eating at to (hopefully) make up for any bad ones we're at.

If we DON'T go to Tony's, it needs to be another MK restaurant and since the reviews were 50/50, we decided to stick with it. Second day we have dinner reservations at Chef Mickey's, so no TS meal that day in the park.

Never been to WC but Boma is awesome. Can't wait to go back again this December. I think kids would find a lot to enjoy on the buffet. The desserts are pretty amazing also.

We've been to both and Boma is a "must do" on each of our triips...Once for breakfast and once for dinner. WCC, on the other hand, one of our group of six liked it...Unless we are staying at WL, we won't make plans to go out of our way for WCC.

We've never been to Boma (had to cancel it last year). With that being said, I would recommend ANYTHING (except Hollywood & Vine) over WCC which we did do last year. We were seated 45 minutes past our ADR time, the hostess was rude, the service was horrible (we were there for over two hours and it was just the two of us and we never did order dessert); we didn't care for the food and DH got sick on the meat (which was, obviously, undercooked--and we are sure it was the meat because it was the only thing we didn't try as I was disinterested after eating the other items served with the skillet).

we went to TTS, WCC and Boma though for breakfast earlier this month. We enjoyed TTS (lunch) -- not very busy, not loud and a cute atmosphere. WCC on our first night on property, very busy and noisy lots of commotion. None of us ordered the skillet dinner -- we were all pleased with our food.

For us its neither...we just had lunch at WCC 2 weeks ago and it was horrible. We love Boma breakfast but do not like the dinner at all, the spices and flavors are just eh to us

We ate at both WCC and Boma last week. If you have a 4yo with you and you like BBQ, I'd say go with WCC. We had the all-you-can-eat skillets and it was a very good meal, and they even allow milkshakes and smoothies as beverages on the DDP. Our DD7 could have ordered the kids' skillet but ended up with the kids' cheeseburger but was happy. They also have various antics to amuse the kids.

Boma is one of our very favorites and we love trying the various flavors, but in all honesty your 4yo would probably end up at the kids' section, which is mac & cheese and the usual stuff. Sounds like WCC might be more to your liking! Have fun!

Go to Boma. Food very good and different than everywhere else. You daughter can see the animal after.

WCC is loud and they are always screaming about Ketchup or something. So unless you like screaming all through your dinner don't go here. If you like screaming go here.

We loved WCC - we ate there a couple years back - food was great & the kids had a blast.

BUT that being said, we chose this time to eat @ O'hana's cause we loved it too (and we can't do both this year).

I realize that you have made your decision, but I was wondering if you had considered the restaurants at the Poly and GF (a short monorail ride away from eh MK). Kona Cafe and Ohana are great and we also like the Grand Floridian Cafe. We'd do any of these before Tony's. As far as your original question goes it would be Boma hands down for us. We're staying at Wildreness Lodge in October but based on feedback on the Dis we know that we would not be happy at Whispering Canyon.

Nope, we won't be cancelling Tony's.

My original question was which of those two restaurants would fit for us based on what I posted about us. And by doing a bit more research, I found the answer. We are definitely the type to sit in a loud restaurant with rambunctious kids and joking waitstaff. We aren't really drawn to the type of options served at a Boma dinner. If it were for sampling, yes, but for an entire meal at the very end of our trip, no. So Whispering Canyon Cafe it is.

We're eating at Tony's BECAUSE we're at Magic Kingdom that day, not going there just TO eat there. We will be there all day. Leaving for a dinner at another resort with a 4 year old is not an option for us. If we DO leave, it'll be for her to take a nap earlier, and go back for Wishes. Other than that, we're in the park for the duration. But thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

Food wise it is no contest for me - Boma wins hands down every time! We have been the last two years, and will be going again next year! There are some pictures / reviews of Boma in both my food reports below, and some WCC pictures and review in the Gluttony report, if thats any help!

Love em both, but Boma wins. And it ain't close. We're going for a 4 day/3 night trip in November, and I insisted on Boma to "supplement" our QSP.

I'm extremely picky, and I find too much to eat at Boma. I start with the soups, tear myself away from those and then pick from beef, pork, chicken, and fish. The soups and entrees are so good, I don't even bother saving room for desserts. I know there is a Zebra Dome fan club on the DIS, but I've never thought they were worth saving room.
