Boma or Wave for breakfast?

DH's favorite meal is breakfast and he loves buffets! I'm debating between Boma and Wave. If we do Boma it would be before our AK day (just take a cab there then hop a bus to AK). If Wave we would do before our MK day then walk to MK (staying on monorail so hopefully be able to take that to the CR or otherwise cab it). It's me, DH, and DS (3). Which did you like better and why?

I haven't dined at the Wave, but Boma's breakfast if my favorite breakfast at WDW. The buffet is very good, with an interesting mixture of items. They have traditional American breakfast foods (e.g., waffles, eggs, bacon), but they also have some items with an African influence (e.g., Bobotie). I highly recommend giving Boma a try!

I just switched my breakfast at O'hana to Boma since the food looks better to me. I have gone to both of those for dinner and enjoyed each. I decided on Boma for breakfast since the food looked like it would be different from the everyday breakfast items that the other places have. I am sure you won't be disappointed in either but for me it was about being able to try something different. I will let you know how it was in about 15 days.

Boma hands down! I am not a breakfast person but the food was great. We are going to try the Wave in January.

So far it seems like everyone likes Boma! Wondering if I would need a reservation? Just checked and it appears there are openings at 7:30-8...

We are doing Ohana on our hotel day! The only character meal we are doing this time around!

Boma has the best buffet, from a quality perspective, of any breakfast I've had at WDW (granted, most of the others have been character meals). I also love the atmosphere of AKL.

The worst thing about it is that it's sort of out of the way if you're not staying at AKL (going on your AK day is a good plan).

I've heard good things about the Wave breakfast but have never gone there (for any meal). The restaurant just seems kind of boring to me.

I have had both many times and personally I prefer the wave. The food is very good and high end. The grits are to die for with cheddar cheese and bacon. The whole experience is better to me because Boma is like a cattle call and a ton of screaming kids. The wave is more relaxed and although there are kids, it dampens the sound better and doesn't echo as much. As far as traditional breakfast items, the Wave has more of them, whereas, Boma has its African flavors on many items.

We like The Wave. CM friend loves to eat on property at buffets where there is a calm and quiet ambience. She also loves the lox and bagels.

The sweet potato pancakes and fresh local produce are excellent. It is our must-do breakfast whenever I am in FL.

Thanks for all the responses! I really want to do both, BUT then I would have to sacrifice our Ohana breakfast on our hotel day which is the only character meal we have planned (although we went last year).... So many places to try! I'm still kind of leaning towards Boma just because we stayed at BLT last year so got to check out CR and ate lunch/dinner at Wave but haven't been to check out AKL for a few years and kind of want to walk around (went to Jiko a few years ago but never really checked out anything at the hotel, just went right to the restaurant).... decisions, decisions,

We are trying Boma breakfast in September for the first time. We stayed at AKL last year and never ate there! The hotel is definitely worth going to just to walk around its amazing!!!

I would definitely make a reservation (ADR). Boma is quite popular.

For breakfast? I thought they were just really busy at dinner time. I was surprised when I looked it up they had reservations open every 15min starting at 7:35am so didn't think I would need to!!

We always make ADRs for meals we know we want to do. Even if the restaurant isn't booked to capacity, it still gets us in ahead of walk-up patrons.

Also haven't done Wave but did Boma in 2013 & loved it. It was a great buffet. Yes there were some African inspired dishes but lots of traditional foods as well. Bread pudding with praline sauce was "to die for!"

The Wave's food is actually higher quality, due to the buffet being a lot smaller and it being refreshed a lot faster, and the option of getting your food ala cart rather then from the buffet (which is almost always going to be an increase in quality).

However, Boma has a much larger selection, and likely a more interesting one.

If I wanted a sit down breakfast with no jumping up and down, I'd choose the Wave, no question. But if I'm after a buffet, it would definitely be Boma.

I've done Boma once before when Tusker House wasn't available. Definitely turned out to be a great surprise! We're going back in October!
