Any opinions/suggestions? Which do you prefer, and why? We're staying at AKL for the first time, and would like to eat at one of them. I'm leaning towards Boma, but have heard great things about Jiko. :confused3

Thanks, everyone!

They are both wonderful. You have to choose based on what you are in the mood for experience wise and how much time you have and if you have children how well behaved are they.

Boma, a buffet, but relaxed, no hurry, take your time and try everything on the buffet..lol. Plan a good hour to 90 minutes for this. You can get a nice african wine or beer with your meal. Very enjoyable.

Jiko, upscale, time between the courses to digest, wonderful wine list, outstanding food and service. One of the top restaurants on disney property. Plan a good two hours or more for this meal, mostly adults, so kids would need to be good for that lengthy period of time. Now, there are always kids when we dine there, but they are very very well behaved.

My husbend and I loooooved Boma!!!! We have 4 kids and they loved it too. It is NOT you tipical buffet. There are no characters there but the food was excellant. And you don't stand in a line like at other buffets. There are these pods and at each one there is different types of food. There is even some African dishes that we tried and loved!! The sevice was excellant also. My daughter was asking me to take her back up to the buffet, I asked her to wait while I finished what I was eating and at the same time one of the chef's was walking by our table and overheard her. He offered to take her up and help her. He then walked her back to the table. :earseek: Only at Disney does something like that happen. :earboy2: The resturant was busy too and we still recieved great service :groom: !! We are going back in a week. Everytime we go back to Disney we will go to Boma :cool1:

DH 30 :earsboy:
DW 32 :earsgirl:
DD 8 princess: Jasmine
DD 7 (At Disney in a week) princess: Ariel
DS 4 pirate: Capt Jack
DD 15 months princess: Belle

Thanks, webray and sixAMom!

My DD is 11 (12 in two weeks!), and she definitely understands the consequences of *not* behaving well in restaurants, although we haven't had to exercise the consequences since she was three :flower:

I like the idea of the pods. We have a similar restaurant here in RI, and it's great because it offers so much for so many different tastes. I think we'll try Boma, since we all love to try little bites of anything new.

Thanks for helping make the choice!
