Boma or Jiko?

I didn't read the other posts, but I can give you our opinion of both places. We're not fans of buffets, but we thought Boma was more adventurous than Jiko. They had several dishes you don't see on typical American buffets. Jiko is much quieter & more relaxed. Unfortunately, we expected so much more from the food, based on the reviews here. We felt the food was very pedestrian. The wine list was better than many of the restaurants. We go to restaurants for excellent food though. In our opinion, Jiko didn't deliver that. You didn't mention Sanaa, but that would be my choice in the AKL resort area. To us, Jiko was the most disappointing of any of the signature restaurants. Boma is good for a buffet.

Both are fantastic! Boma is one of our favorite places. We like sampling lots of different things so it is well suited for us. However, Jiko is really one of a kind. I think you would enjoy either. The atmosphere is the biggest difference - Boma is pretty loud and busy, Jiko is quiet and relaxing.

I am going on my first solo trip in April and I only have time for MK and Epcot so I thought why not eat at AK Lodge on arrival night. Would it be better for me to eat at Boma or Jiko being solo? I have no problem eating alone but sometimes restaurants have seats where you can watch them cook that are good for solo people. I wasn't sure if Jiko had that.

Niko is great for solo as you can eat at the bar there.

Jiko over Boma. Variety of food at the latter is greater; however, the quality of the food and overall experience at Jiko is a step above. As someone implied, Sanaa may be better than either Boma or Jiko with a varied, fun menu and the bonus of seeing animals (if before dark). Since you didn't mention that as a choice, I'll say Jiko.

As for the poster and solo dining, I agree with OKW Lover--there is the bar area and a small dining spot overlooking the kitchen. If I'm dining alone, I prefer quality over quantity.
