Boma or Jiko?

We're thinking we'd like to eat at AKL on our upcoming trip, but don't know whether to try Boma or Jiko. This would be for lunch or dinner -- probably dinner -- I know Boma is buffet-style, but we're not really volume eaters; often we'll split an entree; so is Boma worth $22/person (even for our 14 yo), or would we be better off at Jiko?

Jiko is wonderful. Boma is filling and a little loud. It depends on what you want. Jiko has a very attentive but not overbearing waitstaff. With Boma, you get to try dishes that you might not order if it were not a buffet. We alternate eating at one or the other each trip. Jiko is more up-scale (like California grill). Boma is still a Disney buffet, but with wonderful dishes. You will spend more at Jiko than Boma regardless of what you order.

Indeed Boma is much more “family friendly” as there will be something for every taste. If you are adventuresome and willing to try things you don’t recognize, you will love Boma and it is worth every penny. If you enjoy much more traditional American food, the cost for the mac-and-cheese and chicken fingers is indeed pricy. However, we have taken many “picky” eaters to Boma and they have, almost without exception, enjoyed the experience. (And they will give you the recipes to anything you request!) Breakfast at Boma is also great if you can't fit in other meals.

If you like Boma, you will most certainly enjoy Jiko as much or more!

They are both excellent, but Jiko is more upscale dining. You really can't go wrong with either. Remember that neither is open for lunch.

Neither is open for lunch. If you aren't big eaters then I wouldn't spend the money on Boma.

We love both, for different reasons. Jiko is very good, but the portions are not nearly as large as most of the Disney restaurants. My piece of monkfish was about 2" square but very tasty. We commonly split an appetizer and dessert, however. The bill will probably exceed Bomas.

Boma is a must do buffet for us. We haven't tried Jiko yet but have heard it is excellent.
