Does Boma or Jiko offer a view of the animals while dining. ALso which would be considered better or what are their perks. Thanks

When we had dinner at Boma we were not seated near a window, so we didn't have a view of the animals at all. In fact, I didn't even realize there were places where you could see them! I'll have to remember that next time, my DD would love it.

We have eaten at both. Neither has a view of the animals that I remember.

Boma is possibly the best buffet on property. It is a bit noisy. The dessert selection is expansive, so save room! PS are a must.

Jiko is a top notch restaurant. The head chef used to be at Artist Point. The food is fabulous and the wait staff are great to talk to. We made PS for when they opened so it would be less busy and we could talk more with the staff.

There are plenty of places to view animals before dinner, including a walk out with CMs there to talk about the animals and the cultures of their native lands.

We dined at Jiko during our last visit, in November. One word leaps to mind: incredible.

The food is unlike anything I've encountered before -- unusual seasonings, flavorings, all just delicious.

It's a tad fancier, I think, than Boma. More adult-oriented. But memorable. Very memorable. I can't wait to go back.

My recommendation: the tenderloin with mac and cheese! Awesome.

('Scuse me, while I wipe the drool off my chin...)

We love both. Jiko is a class act, but is costly. It's a 'special night out', but there are also people with kids there. It's quieter, but not stuffy.
Boma is a great experience in dozens of new tastes. I recommend it highly if you can be a little adventuresome in trying new things.

haven't tried boma, but had dinner at jiko last saturday night. it was our second time there and it is one of our favorite restaurants at disney world. would definitely recommend it.

Both are fine spots--I suppose it comes down to whether or not you prefer a buffet, or a bit more costly table service spot. WE always dine at Jiko's these days, and will do so again in May. While that tenderloin is supurb, I've been converted to the Berbere Braised Lamb Shank--mouthwatering-ly good!!
As noted you can't see any of the animals from the restaurants. If you do wander around the Lodge and go to the animal "viewing areas", a lot depends on what time of day it is. We eat at Jiko's around 6:00 and usually stroll out to look at the Animals just prior to dinner. In 5 trips, all we've ever seen are a few lazy, sleepy cattle and some birds. I thought I saw a Zebra in the distance, but Mrs. Uncleromulus says it was a mirage. In a word, you won't confuse this with the safari ride over at the AK Park.

Boma and Jiko are both very good, they offer two different experiences, neither with views of the animals. They over look the pool area basically.

Boma is a buffet restaurant, offering African specialties (and prime rib). There is more food than you can imagine. You can also get a great glass of wine or beer. The cooks are right there in front of you, they are a lot of fun. Service is excellent. Plan on a good hour to get through all the food. Very relaxed atmosphere for a buffet.

Jiko is a sit down. Huge wine list...wonderful wines. Excellent menu, changes every once in a while. The walls change color like the sunrise/sunset throughout your meal. Food and service have always been wonderful. Plan on a good couple of hours...you are not rushed here. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

Food is great at both, so choose according to your time schedule and the experience you want to have.
