My family is planning to eat at Boma on our next trip to WDW (mid-May) and we we wondering if there are many (if any) things there that conflict with nut allergies. We'll be eating there for dinner on our first night of the trip so hopefully we enjoy it :)

I can't say we're very familiar with some of the items on the menu so I looked up a few but I can't seem to find out what Pap is. Any info would be appreciated!

edit: We'll be going on a Sunday in which i've heard the food is "Chef's Choice". Does that pretty much mean we can have no idea of what will be served before we get there

Pap is a baked cornmeal dish. Love this stuff.

We don't have nut allergies, so I can't really say too much about that in detail. I'm pretty sure there are nuts in some of the desserts, but except for some nut crusted fish, I can't remember seeing a lot of nuts at all. If you are concerned, you can talk to the chef and they are always accommodating.

If you have a group of picky eaters, Boma may not be for you. It is African-inspired food with African-inspired spicing and food combinations. While there is an area with chicken strips and fries and such, if you can't eat more than that, you're probably wasting your money on Boma.

Its really only the 15 y/o in the party who is a bit picky but he'll survive :P
Thanks for the info.

If you make an ADR, tell the CM about the nut allergy. African food often contains hidden nuts and peanuts/peanut butter. A food item might appear to be nut-free, but could be a potential problem for an allergy sufferer. There's no need to guess or take chances. When you go to the restaurant, the host/hostess will confirm the allergy note on your ADR. The chef will come to your table and walk the allergic individual through the buffet line, pointing out safe options. If nothing is o.k., the chef should be able to prepare something special in the kitchen.

We did Boma with our family with both picky eaters AND a child with severe peanut and tree nut allergies. There is definately enough to satisfy everyone!
Our kids even tried new things which some of they actually enjoyed.
Disney as a whole, including Boma is wonderful about accomodating food/nut allergies. A chef came to our table and took me and my DD through the buffet line and told her exactly what was safe and that she could enjoy and exactly what to avoid. It was a great experience and we loved that we chose it for both breakfast and dinner on two separate days. (We were staying at AKL.) I definately say try it!

Thank you (and the above poster) for the info. We had heard of them doing that but we weren't aware that many things would have nuts so we weren't sure if we should mention it that much but now we will. We'll make sure to call back tommorrow and tell them :)
