Wow! What a unique restaurant! We ate there for breakfast and dinner during out weekend stay at the AKL (I will be posting a resort review on the Resorts board so keep an eye out for that!) I consider myself a "foodie." I am always on the lookout for great places to dine. I don't usually consider a buffet a great dining experience but this place is phenomenal. Now, if you are a picky eater, forget it. I mean, you can certainly "find" plain, simply prepared items, but I think it would be a waste of money to go here if you are not a bit adventurous. The food is not "spicy hot." but there are lots of seasonings...a lot of curry and cumin flavors. One thing I really liked...there are a lot of items that mix "sweet" and "savory." Like the Coconut Chicken Curry soup, or the Carrot/Ginger/Cheese soup. Or the Bobotie...which DH and I likened to latin "picadillo"...a meat hash with raisins in it.
I had this board in mind when I sampled everything. You may think I am exaggerating, but I swear I tasted 90% of the items. there were 6 soups there and I tried every one and every one was a winner. The famous zebra domes were DELICIOUS, as was the coconut Tiramisu. There were plenty of other desserts as well, but those stand out as my favorite!
I cannot wait to get back to this restaurant. I feel it is the best value for your money, also.
