We made a reservation for dinner at boma and we have never been there before. My question is, how are they with allergies??

I am allergic to peanuts, eggs, and shellfish.

Would those be able to be easily accomodated or should we book somewhere else?

I can't answer your question, but I would like to know the answer too. My DS has food allergies as well.

I just wanted to reply to your post because I noticed your weight loss, and wanted to say congrats! I am trying to lose 30 lbs, and it's not easy! Way to go!!:thumbsup2

From what I have read here before, Boma is very good about handling special dietary needs & allergies. :thumbsup2

What you do is let your server know and then someone (usually a chef) will walk you through the buffet and go over what you can and cannot eat based on your allergy. In fact, whenever we've been to Boma, our server always asks if we have any special dietary needs.

I'm not sure what all you'll be able to eat from the buffet, but I do know that they make it quite clear what has your allergens and what doesn't.

Boma does have a lot of vegetarian options & good old meat too, so I think there should be lots of things that you can eat there.

We went a couple years ago and had this situation as my daughter is allergic to tree nuts. A chef came out, walked her through the buffet and told her what was ok and what wasn't. In her case, most things were ok except for the desserts, and for that they brought her a special one. In general all of the restaurants do much the same once you tell the waiter.

We were there in January. My daughter had a friend with her, who I was unaware had an allergy to nuts. When the server came to the table, she told him of her allergies and asked if he could indicate what she could not eat. The server told her the only thing she (my daughter's friend) could do was stop at each individual food item and ask someone behind the serving line whether she could eat that food or not. I was shocked at this. She ate very, very little because she was afraid, and it's simply inconvenient, if not impossible, to ask someone at each individual food item. There was never any offer to have a chef or anyone else come out to assist her, as some people have posted. I did look back at the Disney dining information and it says to inform them ahead of time about any allergies. Had I known she had allergies, I would have informed Disney ahead of time or, better yet, I would not have made reservations at an expensive buffet. We had looked so forward to eating at Boma, but we left very disappointed overall in our experience there.

i have food allergies (seafood/fish/ but not nuts) we informed before arriving and when we checked in told them again we had issues, the staff were amazing the chefs (yes 1 for mains, 1 for dessert;)) came to the table asked me what i wanted as i couldnt eat much on the buffet (i am also allergic to onions which iis my main issue) and they could me fresh to order what i wanted (i just asked forchicken salad- it had avocado and citrus chicken and was v v yummy!!)
i think boma nad CM were the best for dealing with my allergies.

I found Boma to be great with allergies. I have LT peanut and tree nut allergy but nobody in my family eats them and we noted the allergy in our ADR and the chef came out and walked us around the buffet to show what was safe to eat and what was not. We had dinner once and breakfast over 10 times. We didn't do dinner there again as at the time we went they had peanut rice, but I believe they don't have that anymore.

I don't have allergies per say, but I am lactose intolerant and Boma was extremely accommodating both times we were there. The chefs have walked me through the buffet and let me know what was safe and what was not. They also made me a sorbet that was really yummy!

Just note your needs on your ADR and then inform your waiter and they will get a chef. If the same thing happens to you that happened to another poster, where they were told that her daughter's friend would have to ask at each station, just ask to see a chef. Disney now has very strict rules about taking care of allergies.

Enjoy!:goodvibes

p.s. Every counter service station has a notebook listing the ingredients of each menu item and a lot of the time a manager will come speak with you just as a safety precaution. Super service.

Thanks.

Yeah this is our 3rd trip to WDW and we've done 5 trips to DL since I was diagnosed with the peanut adn egg allergies 2 years ago adn I was just diagnosed with a shellfish allergy a few weeks ago so we've gotten good at this in general but Boma is one restaurant we havent tried yet so I was curious as to other peoples experiences.

This trip we're only going to be there for 4 days so we are only doing Boma, CP, and Le Cellier

My son can not eat gluten and our last trip was our first with an allergy. Every restaurant we ate at was very accomidating. Make sure you have your allergies notes on your advanced dining reservation and remind them when you check in.

At Boma a chef was sent to our table, went throgh the line with me to tell me what my son could eat and then they freshly prepared everything for him so that cross contamination was not an issue. They brought him so much food that there was quite a bit left over. They even packed up his leftovers so we could take them with us.

By the way, our experience at other restaurants was just as good!

I am so sorry that a PP was NOT given proper care for a CHILD with an allergy. While you should give advance notice when you make the reservation it is Disney POLICY that a CHEF come out and ensure the safety of the customer even if they did not make advance notice.

In Boma, that includes walking the buffet to point out safe/unsafe foods and to discover if the diner needs any meals cooked up and brought directly to them to ensure no one on the buffet inadvertently cross-contaminates.

If anyone has an allergy and gets less than the information necessary, please feel free to "go up the chain of command" until you reach someone who will ensure the health and safety of the guest.

Disney has a policy and ensuring it is enforced is not being a difficult guest, it is assisting Disney in maintaining their high standards.
