We have ADRs at Boma for 5:00 on the day that we tour AK, which closes at 5:00. If we walk out of the gate by 4:30, is that enough time? I don't really know where Boma is in relation to the park entrance. Thanks!

Nope not enough time. You need to check in at the podium of Boma at least 10 min. prior to your ADR, so you'd have to be there at 4:50. The walk from the gates of AK to the bus for AKL is a few minutes, and near closing time, you may be in a very long line for the next bus, which could be right there waiting, or not for another 20 min. At closing you may even need to wait for a 2nd bus if the 1st one is full. Once on the bus it's a 5-10 min. ride to AKL (not sure if this run has a stop at Blizzard Beach as well or not). Once off the bus at AKL you have to enter the lobby & then make your way down to the ground floor level to get to Boma.

I would leave by 4:00 at the latest to give yourself enough time. Or, try to make your ADR later so you have more park time.

If you're driving your own car, you may possibly be able to make it, depending on where in the AK parking lot you are parked, and how quickly you can park once at AKL. I'd still leave the park gates by 4:15 at the latest, if driving yourself.

If you're taking a cab, I'd also suggest leaving at 4:15, or earlier.

OK, thanks. We'll try to leave by 4. I'm trying every day to get the ADR backed up a little, and I'm planning to call the day of, as well, since people cancel. 2 more questions:

If I call yellow cab, to avoid the bus hoop-de-ra, is that easier? we have a party of 9. Do all of us have to be present, or can I go check in and have the rest be there by 5? (knowing they will not seat us at 5, even if we are all there 15 minutes early. annoying, but what can you do??)

IMHO, you don't have to be there 10 minutes early unless you are really trying to eat at 5:00. And even then showing up early won't guarantee it.

Even if you are a few minutes late they are not going to cancel your reservation.

I have a related question -- we'll be there (in February, on a relatively slow day before the busy week) with a 6:00 PM reservation at Boma, so we will leave the park when it closes. I expect we'll be driving. Is the traffic at closing so terrible that it will take forever to get to AKL from AK? Or can we make it with time to spare?

If the park closes at 5, you'll be fine. Drive time from AK to AKL is about 5 minutes without any traffic, so theoretically it'll take ~15 mins to drive there, park, and get into AKL. Add tram to the parking lot, getting to your car, and traffic and it'll take anywhere from 30-45 mins. Honestly, whether you are going by bus or personal vehicle, an hour should be plenty of time to get from AK to AKL, and even if you are 5-10 minutes late, they aren't going to cancel your reservation; it's Disney, they understand that things can run a little behind. :hippie:

They won't seat you if your whole party isn't present.

If you're more than 15 minutes late, Boma will put you back in the standby line.
