I heard about BolongoBay Resort located on St. Thomas and wanted to know if anyone has ever stayed here for the day while in port. From what I've heard, the beach is lovely and it is a nice relaxing day at the resort. Any input?? It would be appreciated - :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We stayed there a long, long, long, long, long time ago (before DS was born). I don't know about going for the day but it was very nice when we went. Everything was included in the price of the stay. Although I did get very ill on the catamaran to St. John - but we won't go there.

We stayed at Bolongo for a week this past spring break. We chose it because it is a smaller beach front hotel (every room is ocean front). In my opinion it would be a great place to spend a day at the beach. You can check out their website (bolongobay.com) to learn more about their beach and water sports. Since we were hotel guests I do not know what they charge a non-guest but if their hotel rates are any indication I would say it would be reasonable. They also operate the Heavenly Days Catamaran (Disney's Champagne Sail and Snorkel excursion). It is great! They also have an excellent beach front sports bar - Iggies. It has good fun and a fun casual atmosphere. Their pool is smallish but adequate (swim up pool bar is a plus). Give it a try and tell the hostness Vernita (in the gift shop) the Peelers from Atlanta said hi! If you need more info send me a PM.

I contacted Bolongo Bay Resort and several other resorts by email this morning and then called Bolongo Bay tonight to inquire as to whether or not they accommodated guests (such as cruisers) who would like to use the resort's facilities for the day. The person I spoke with said that the resort does not have such an offer, but said that the beach is available to the public. I then talked to a rep at Changes and Latitudes who advised that she knew of no hotels on St. Thomas who offered a day pass for guests. She said that the St. Thomas hotels are smaller and cannot accommodate such a request. She said that hotels in the Bahamas are able to offer a day pass, because they are bigger. She gave me the number of the Virgin Islands Tourist Board -- 800-372-8784 to find out if they are aware of any such hotels on St. Thomas. Don't know if this info answers your question.

While visiting Bolongo this spring several people there were "cruise day guests". If you go there and spend money in their sports bar, Iggies, which is right on the beach I am sure they would welcome you with open arms. Just be low key and I am sure you'll be welcomed.
