Just back from Vero Beach and I saw so many of these bags, in so many beautiful colors.

Do you have one? Do you like it? Target has the Simple Modern version, and I was thinking about splurging for one :rolleyes18-)🌴☀️

I've had one for a few years. I think it was our 2021 summer travel ball season when they became the "IT" bag for all of the softball moms. My friend got the Baby Bogg in the blush color and insisted I needed one, but that I'd be better off with the original size. They were really hard to come by at the time and things were selling out as soon as they became available, but I eventually got an Original in the Periwinkle color (below).

Most everyone I know LOVES theirs. Seriously...infatuated with it. I have tried to love mine, but it's been sitting in my closet and being used as storage for about a year now. I absolutely hate carrying it to softball, but it was a good beach and pool bag on our cruise a couple of years ago, so it might be good for your needs. Here are some of my thoughts on the Bogg and some of the complaints I've seen in my softball groups about the knock offs (Temu's is popular) and the other brands.
  • It is massive. You may already know this if you've seen the original in person, but it is A LOT of bag to carry around. I've even had troubles making room for it when bringing it in to some restaurants.
  • If you overload it, the straps are prone to popping open. I have tried putting my camera gear in it and it's just too much for the bag. Super gluing the little white "b" connectors has helped some. I reached out to Bogg about it but never heard back.
  • My sunscreen left marks on the bag that I can't get off.
  • The original Bogg is a really stiff and sturdy bag (minus my strap issues). Many of the knock offs are floppy and don't hold their shape. I know because I bought one for my older daughter and it's definitely nothing like the real thing.
    • Simply Southern's seems to be the most popular alternative in terms of quality.
  • If you do splurge for Bogg, buy from an authorized retailer or directly from the Bogg site. Before I got the one below, I tried buying from Amazon. The seller had great reviews and there were a ton of pics in the review section that looked legit. At the time everything was sold out on the Bogg site, so I decided I was willing to overpay a little for a bag through this Amazon seller. It was the strangest thing...Amazon showed the bag shipped and the day before anticipated delivery, my payment was refunded. On delivery day, an awful knock off arrived. I can't really complain too much, I got something for free, but it definitely wasn't a real Bogg.

I have an OG BOGG bag from like 5 years ago, the big one. I do like it, but I only use it locally.

I do not take it with me on an airplane, its heavy and a pain in the butt. If I'm driving somewhere, I love it. I like it at the beach/pool mostly, but again, I don't want to attempt to fly with it. Mine is so big it probably wouldn't fit under a seat anyways. I didn't really think about that part when I bought it.

I also feel like the lack of any built in storage is annoying. So I do have to use a lot of pouches/clip on pieces for it that pop off constantly. I'd give it like a 6/10 for me in overall love.

I caved and bought a Simply Southern version last year before our week at Jekyll Island. In the bag's defense, we only ended up having 1-2 beach days that trip. It was "fine" to me, it did hold a lot and it did keep it shape rather than falling over like a cloth bag. It was easy to clean also.

It has sat in my closet for a year now and they are rather large - I don't really want to fill it with stuff because then I couldn't quickly grab it and use it for an outing/trip/etc. So it takes up space to be an empty container.

My daughter plays softball but only rec league so I don't have the need so far to pack it for any sports related things.

And currently it is packed for a long weekend trip this weekend, we have an indoor pool at our hotel so it has our beach towels, swimsuits, and flip flops in it.

I feel the Simply Southern quality is great, but would I buy it again? I'm not sure.

One of our relatives with small children has one and likes to use it to carry various things. Seems to be made out of some sort of rubberized material so might be good at the beach or places where it might get wet. Just seems like an oversized tote bag to me. Maybe they are trendy so that is why they are popular with some?

I cannot justify the price. I know that Aldi currently has a version right now. I understand the allure but just too expensive for me.

I went to Aldi to check it out and it was huge and awkward. I hated the straps so I didn't get it.

It is great in certain circumstances. I use it as a baseball bag. We do a lot of tournaments so it holds the ridiculous amount of stuff I bring “just in case”. It is huge and heavy if full but we have a wagon that I keep it in so that isn’t an issue. Organization is a problem so I have a lot of freebie Ulta makeup bags that I use to store stuff. One for snacks, one for cooling towels and fans, one for phone chargers, etc. My favorite thing is that I can just rinse it. It inevitably gets full of dirt and I can just hose it off. I think it would be a good beach bag but I haven’t used it for that yet. Not sure what I would use it for outside of beach and baseball since it is so big.

it reminds me of something similar i had years ago but that one was made of hard plastic material and much less costly. i used it to death when i did community theatre-loaded everything i needed in it to schlep to rehearsals and performances but it was not something i used for day to day stuff b/c it held so much and would get very heavy. i can see something like this being good to toss allot of stuff into to transport from one place to another in the car but seems cumbersome and uncomfortable to use regularly (would kill my shoulder).

with the soft sided material is it prone to staining? i liked my hard plastic b/c i could use wet wipes and easily clean, i seem to remember owning (or the kids owning) some stuff made of this softish material and it was hard to clean (i would worry the bottom and lower portions would discolor/stain from setting it down).

I love mine, but as I fly to Disney can't take it with me. I would love to be able to bring it to the pool but not sure how I would get it there as everyone said- they are huge.
I have two young kids. Having only one bag with everything is great and at the end of a beach day you just spray it with a hose. Dirty/wet clothes are no big deal, if a water bottle spills I don't care and my family can easily access what they need. I use it for a car bag for long rides, party days at friends houses, really anything.
Can't speak to other brands but the Bogg holds up in durability.

Is that a special, 'designer' bag, like Gucci or that other guy, Louie Veton?

I have to laugh because I do think they are cute for the beach but I have found my favorite “beach bag” to be the Marshall’s and TJ Maxx shopping bags! Yes I know…go ahead make fun of me. I get it!😂😂😂. But seriously, they fold up so small so you can pack in a suitcase, unfold so big and fit a ton and never rip or tear. Plus I am short and weak 😄 so I like how they are so light. My two daughters who are in their 20’s made fun of me last year, but now use them as well. It cracks me up because everyone has cute little totes and there I am with my Marshall’s bag.

While I would really like a Bogg bag, I would probably only use it when my husband was with me so he could carry it. I find them to be quite heavy even when empty….kind of like a Yeti cooler. We only use that when he is with us too. They are adorable though.

OP…if you want one and can afford one and it makes you happy, go for it!😁

I was only vaguly aware of this trend. My mom gets 'gifts' from a nearby casino all the time and came home with this type of bag. (Hurley brand).

I don't get the attraction, and it is definetly not my vibe. I called a friend who also hadn't heard of them but she is going to use it as a boat bag.

I figure Bogg Bags are this year's Stanley mug... they also are not my vibe.

I'll stick to my backpack and my Hydroflask.

But I will say if you have an Aldi. I saw that they had them at a reasonable price and they had the pouches that pop into the bags.

I've never heard of them. The picture above looks like if Crocs made bags.

They do sell charms for it too. I think they call them Bogg Bits. The two clear pouches that come standard with the big one also snap into the holes, so they're functional as well.

I have put mine inside my big suitcase. I just pack it with clothes that would have been packed in the case anyways and use the clear snap on bags for smaller toiletries.

we refer to this as 'russian doll packing' b/c i am prone to packing smaller suitcases inside larger so that my souvineer, outlet and (when we used to cruise) liquor purchases have a means of traveling home with us :teeth:
