We are very excited to do our first trip to Disney in a few weeks. We have dinner reservations at BOG for one evening - will be myself, DH, and 5yo DS. Which room at BOG do you all recommend, that DS might enjoy the most?

At dinner, you will be seated by the host stand, and they very often close off one of the rooms entirely. You can certainly request a room, but it may not be met as a request.

Ditto, for dinner they seat you where they have tables available. You can ask for another room, but it may leave you with a significant wait.

You could check out this video from the Disney Food Blog to see a little of each room: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2012/...staurant-west-wing-rose-gallery-and-ballroom/.
As PP mentioned, at dinner you can request, but no guarantee. During brft and lunch, you get to walk around and then choose your seat. The West Wing might be cool for a boy, but can also be a little scary/creepy for younger ones. I love watching the "snow" fall in the main ballroom, and it is neat to watch the music box turn in the castle room, so I am sure wherever you sit will have things he will enjoy.
