BOG soup sub for dessert?

Any subbed French onion soup for dessert at BOG since the dining plan changes were implemented?

Which meal, lunch or dinner? I tried it at dinner the first week of August and the waiter said no.

There have been reports of being able to do so at lunch, but PP is one of a couple that have said they could not do it at dinner. The difficulty is, the change at TS restaurants was part of the "rumored" changes back in May. The official Disney Dining brochure DOES state that you can make the substitution for a QS meal, but it DOES NOT mention any substitutions for a TS meal. It looks like they may have changed their minds on this one. or the rumor was just that, a rumor. Early on ONE person reported back that they were given the option of ordering green beans instead of dessert at The Wave, but that is the one and only allowance I've seen reported.

I think you can't do it at dinner at BOG because the soups are listed as an "appetizer" on the menu, and exchanging dessert for an appetizer is not allowed. I'm not sure about lunch, since the soups at BOG are just listed as "soups" and not "appetizers" on the menu, but if I had to guess, I'd say probably not...but that's purely a guess. If I'm not mistaken, the exchange was a dessert for a "side" only.

I think you can't do it at dinner at BOG because the soups are listed as an "appetizer" on the menu, and exchanging dessert for an appetizer is not allowed. I'm not sure about lunch, since the soups at BOG are just listed as "soups" and not "appetizers" on the menu, but if I had to guess, I'd say probably not...but that's purely a guess. If I'm not mistaken, the exchange was a dessert for a "side" only.

No, it isn't sides you can substitute but anything listed on the menu as a snack credit is fair game. Soup is indeed a SC on the BOG lunch menu.

Yes, we preordered. I did not go to a kiosk. I went directly to a cashier and she asked me if I wanted to make changes. I said no, but I said we were ordering using quick service credits and I said on one order, instead of a cupcake I ordered soup. She said that was fine. It was easy.

I'm going to do it again on Monday.

I'm sorry, but you are mistaken. The new perk is you may substitute any SNACK item for your dessert and/or drink entitlement. It has to be done at the same restaurant on the same transaction.

BING, BING, BING!! That's the first one we've seen at BoG for dinner, and the first one for any TS in awhile. Perhaps things are changing or perhaps you were given some pixie dust. Please try again at a TS while you are there, and let us know.

Had dinner at mama Melrose tonight (one and done!) and the waitess let me sub garden salad for dessert and my husband got minestrone soup instead of dessert.

They would not let me sub soup either, only the salad sampler.
