BOG reservations - frustrating

So today is my 180+10 mark and I'm making my reservations. Can't find anything for a party of 5 during our trip. So I start playing around to see if maybe we can split into 2 groups of 2 and 3 and I check other combinations - party of 2? plenty available. Party of 3? Nothing available. Party of 4? lots of availability. How can this be? How can they have availability for a party of 4 and not a party of 3? Looks like we will have a ghost at that table because I'm making reservations for 2 and 4.

Yes - nothing for 6 ppl either. Still messing around with it (also on hold on the phone to try that way).

I needed one for 6 people too in December. Couldn't get it no matter when I tried.

Split it into 4 and 2, and there were a lot available. :/ So that's what I did too.

I went with booking a group of 4 and a group of 2. I was on the phone forever to try to get one for 5 - nothing. Also, she could not switch my 4 and 2 to a 3 and 2 because she showed no availability for 3. I asked how that is possible and she had no idea but couldn't do anything about it. Oh, well, at least we got in, even if we're not all at the same table.

1. The Disney reservation system has a quirk/flaw/hiccup in it that often makes it harder to find reservations for an odd numbered party. The system wants to fill as many seats as possible at the table so even though a party of 3 will usually be seated at a 4 top, the system doesn't understand this. It wants to fill all 4 seats so someone looking for a party of 3 is bypassed, but someone inputting a party of 4 will find available tables. Same problem with a party of 5, but it sounds like in your situation all the tables for 6 were already filled.

2. When you check in let the CMs at the podium know that you would like to be seated together. They will do their best to accommodate, but you may have to wait a little longer or it may not be possible. However, BOG has a huge number of tables so you have a better chance here than at a restaurant with fewer tables.
