Got a dinner reservation at BOG for next month, but after looking at the menu and the prices:scared1:, I might just take the family there for desert after we eat dinner somewhere else. Will this be frowned upon doing?

Oh, and if we do decide to eat dinner there, will they let me or my 10 and 12-year old eat off the kid's menu? We are OOP.

There is no restriction at all on how much you are expected to order. Order anything you want.

I don't know about the kids menu but most restaurants are OK with it as long as you are OOP.

Did they change the dessert menu finally? When we were there a few months ago your choices were pretty much cupcake A B C or Puffthingy A and B. Definitely not worth the wait even with an ADR

As long as you have an ADR I don't see them saying anything if you just order dessert :confused3 (Just make sure to tip well ;) )

Not sure about the kids menu thing.

Yes, you may eat whatever you'd like. I actually ate two appetizers there as my dinner, as they appealed to me more than any of the dinner options.

As for the kid's menu, I don't think you should have a problem as you're paying OOP. Some of the TS restaurants make a comment if they're not Disney-owned, but as BOG is Disney-owned I don't think anyone will bat an eye.

Have fun! I really liked BOG and look forward to our ADR there in May! :goodvibes

Thanks for asking this question, OP! We are OOP also and I didn't realize that we could order kids meals if we wanted! So even though most restaurant menus online say "Age 9 and under", you can still order that?

BOG's desserts are amazing. Their cupcakes are like air mixed with little pieces of heaven. I think it's a great place to go for just dessert.

Most TS restaurants will allow anyone to order from the children's menu. At some they will upsize the entree if an adult orders it, but in that case you will be charged more. There have been occasional posts that a restaurant/server adhered to the "For Guests 9 years and under" so it is best to ask before ordering. You could also order an appetizer as an entree or share an adult entree with another guest.

My ds and I went to BOG last July for just appetizers and desserts. I didn't think it would be a problem since we would be in and out quickly, and really the bill was still over $40 and I tipped well. The waiter was really put off, though and hardly interacted with us. It took forever for him to bring the dessert cart to us after we had eaten the apps. :confused3. It affected our opinion of Be Our Guest and we are debating whether to keep the reservations I made for our upcoming trip.

I was lucky and a late (9pm) BoG opening appeared during my random checks so I grabbed it just in case I can't get Lunch. I'm thinking now that this isn't such a bad time because I can use this just for Dessert.

Wondering if anyone has just done appetizers and dessert lately? If so was it frowned upon?

We did in February and our waiter seemed OK with it. Our reservation was early, I think 4:15. There were 3 of us and we ordered 3 appetizers, 3 drinks (beer & wine) and 2 desserts and our bill was close to $100 so he still got a decent tip.

Go for latest possible lunch instead of dinner if possible. The desserts are the same all the time. And the lunch menu has some yummy food on it. I get the Tuna Niçoise salad and the g/f lemon raspberry cupcake and a beverage, usually bottle of water.
My husband loves the croque monsieur and the Coq au Vin.
The French onion soup and the potato leek are both delicious and cheaper at lunch.

Personally, I cannot fathom going through the hunt for an ADR and the wait to be seated to dine there just for a mediocre cupcake. There are much better desserts elsewhere if you just want dessert. Aside from the desserts, the entrees and apps are especially good and well worth the time and effort to experience. As far as pricing goes, $26 for a chicken breast with beurre blanc, wild rice and roasted mushrooms and tomatoes and bread service is a much better value than $5 for a smallish, grocery quality cupcake. There are a few possible reasons someone might want to order just dessert. Some might want to meet the Beast and since BOG opened it's the only place where he appears. Or would like to see the interior of the restaurant and couldn't find or didn't want a breakfast or lunch reservation. Some just want to see the interior but don't care for the menu or are on a tight budget. Others might have gotten a late reservation that is past their dinner hour and already had dinner elsewhere so they just want dessert. Some are curious about the "grey stuff."

With a dessert cart like this - I bet there are quite a few who will dine just for dessert!

My sister and I are going for just dessert. It's our vacation, and we will eat however we want to! :)
