BOG Dinner, worth it?

OOP here, dinner ADR only thing I could get now with only 2 weeks to go. Never been, family of 4. Just wondering if it's worth the price to go. The only appealing dinner item I think my teen boys would like is the $35 steak. If I'm going to spend that for their dinner ( and what teen boy doesn't love steak?), I just wonder if it's any good there. Maybe I'd be better served elsewhere if I'm paying that. Am I making any sense? I guess I'm asking is this place worth the hype?

For us we go everytime we are there ever since it opened and it's worth it . We love the food, atmosphere and meeting the beast on the way out . The service was great and there are 3 dining rooms and they are all beautiful. The steak was delicious we loved it so much I came home and made the garlic butter that came on it. And the desserts were delicious as well,the grey stuff is something to try at least once.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering if the food was delicious. I kind of want to see the place. Everybody else has steak entrees in that range too, and was just hoping it was a good one.

Ok I am a Beauty and Beast fanatic the castle and attention to detail was outstanding. Honestly I remember the food being ok. Loved meeting the beast at end of dinner. I paid oop that time an it was expensive. I am going in September and I will easily be out over 200 again but to me since it is my favorite movie it's worth every penny. That being said we went to CRT and I was so disappointed. That's a one an done for my family of 5. Enjoy :jumping1:

We went 2 years ago and my son ( 13) put it on his short list this year. The food was great, the beast was fun, and the atmosphere really beautiful. I remember reading that it snowed or something and was a little disappointed about that- but I guess it was if you looked out the windows? We were NOWHERE near a window.

I am a huge B&TB fan and love the ambiance, atmosphere, meeting the Beast at the end of the meal, and the all around look of the castle. So with that said....yes it is definitely worth the price. Unfortunately I found out in February that they changed my favorite meal. I loved the shrimp and scallops in the puffed pastry, now instead of it being in the puffed pastry, it is in a crock pot with a side of the pastry as if it were a roll. Since my kids and DH like the lunch menu more then the dinner anyways, we decided that for our upcoming trip we will have lunch instead. Enjoy your meal.

We loved it when we went, but have agreed not to do it again this trip. The food was good, a glass of wine was lovely after a long day in the park but I've done it now so don't feel the need to go back again for a few years

My 9 year old loved his steak. He ate the kid's steak, and he said it was one of the best steaks he has ever eaten. I got the fish and loved it. Service was exceptional for us. Even though I know they need to turn over the tables, the waiter made us feel like we could relax and take our time.

Also, think about your alternatives in Magic Kingdom. BOG is also in a good location depending on what your plans are.

We thought the steak was okay. We were very glad to dine there and experience the restaurant, but we probably won't go back. I think it is nice to try things once to know for yourself how well you like it - especially such a popular place. I also had a solo lunch there. BOG is much more relaxing at dinner than lunch.

Our alternatives are everywhere and anywhere, lol. We've been many times to WDW, and hop around and do whatever. Although I get FPs and sketch a general plan, making ADR'S that make sense, we are quite flexible. I only make ADRs for places I want to try or like, and not for all meals, as we frequently fill up on interesting snacks, and like many QS locations as well.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll keep and give it a try!

My 18 year old son tends to order the steak entrée a LOT at WDW. It's also the fall-back order for his sisters. They all loved it at BOG.

We really enjoyed BOG the last time we were at WDW, and am looking forward to being there again of this trip.

I think you'll be glad you booked it.

we went last year, and found it OK, but very rushed, but worth going for the experience, i always say things like this are always worth trying yourself, as you may love it were others don't, and BOG certainly has it fans

We found the food OK...just OK. I'm fine with that, it's a theme park. They have to deal in too much quantity to do real quality. I call it "faux posh." Price-wise versus quality, it would be a lousy deal in your local town...but once again, BOG is in a theme park.

For us "overrated" was accurate. We didn't hate it, happy to try it once, but probably wouldn't bother with the hassle again. I think there are better meals for similar cost to get in Epcot and the resorts, we prefer TS in MK.

It does seem like the lunch, and maybe breakfast, are far more popular at BOG these days, but they aren't CS and don't feature the Beast.

Aside from the food, a couple of nit-picks because I typed them out recently for Reddit...
  • Even at 6yo, my kid was disappointed the Imagineers didn't put in a simple hallway to give the illusion of walking to the Castle through the mountain...you can still see the tiny castle in the distance (forced perspective) at the same time as the ballroom when entering the doors, it ruins the illusion (it's not how John Hench would have done it)
  • The main ballroom, despite the theming, is a massive sea of tables and felt more like a cafeteria dining room (which is, of course, exactly what is). The West Wing is MUCH better done, but that's because it has so few tables
  • If Disney has "permanent" photo op with a character as part of the experience, they should use some real lighting. Instead they just use a really strong single flash and create harsh shadows on the wall behind everyone

For us .......... it was okay food, not worth the price. Menu was limited. Desserts were the same as lunch ...why?.. so really no value there if on the DDP.

After having eaten there for lunch and breakfast many times, we felt the atmosphere severely lacking at dinner. The ONLY difference was someone TOOK our order, brought our drinks and the Beast was there. Hardly worth it for us. Next trip we have lunch booked and won't do dinner again. Lunch seems to be the best value and probably best QS locations at MK.

If it is a matter of just wanting to see the castle, I would go just for dessert.

We didn't think it was worth it. We paid oop and we're very disappointed in the size and taste of everything. The atmosphere is amazing, but not the food.

We had the lamb, coc au van (sp), and the steak. Nobody was impressed.

I know it was rhetorical, but...

coq au vin

coq= co...um...(more politely)...rooster
vin = wine

Legend has it that it was Gaul's solution to cooking older (tougher) roosters who had outlived their purpose.
