30 days out and got to preorder BOG lunch yesterday! Woot woot! But, no "carved roast beef sandwich".... now listed as a "French dip sandwich" ( with au jus) In sure same thing, just with the au jus...which, might be better, cause that bread was HARD last time!! Excited to get there and give it a try!!

Exciting. When I read the thread title I thought you were going to try to make your own French dip with the carved roast beef sandwich and French onion soup and someone would tell you that sandwich was now served cold and your plan would be foiled. This is coming from a person who cannot pass up ordering a French dip if its on the menu.

Plus...I "thought" a French dip was supposed to be carved prime rib. So, is it a "fake" French dip? Lol...cause, I also, love a good French dip!!

Wondering if this means that it's HOT again! I don't care if there is au jus or not, but was disappointed when I learned it was being served cold.

Help - there is no description on the website and I'm unfamiliar with the term 'French dip'!!
What exactly is this sandwich ??

I have a lunch reservation for 16th August and am planning to preorder - this this might be the only thing my picky eater daughter will eat !!! But need to know if I need to ask them to leave any ingredients out !!!!

Many thanks

Someone said upthread that it's usually made with prime rib beef, but I don't know about that. Around here, thin sliced roast beef (like you get in the deli) is warmed by soaking in hot au jus, then the meat is piled on a long roll and served with a cup of au jus on the side to dip your sandwich into as you eat it.

It's usually just plain roast beef on a roll although I have had it served with cheese too.

You know, you are right. It is roast beef. Not sure where I got the prime rib from ( except that maybe (???) Roast beef is shaved prime rib roast??? I've got 7 kids, lol, I am a chicken nugget connoisseur!!

Roast Beef is not shaved Prime Rib. Prime Rib is a higher, more expensive cut of meat.

I've seen prime rib listed on restaurant menus for French dip sandwiches. I've seen provolone listed a lot too.

My mom always made hers from deli roast beef and canned French's au jus. I've made them from leftover roast beef and canned au jus, or a crockpot recipe using eye round and Campbell's condensed beef broth.

French dips around here always have cheese. Some sort of thin sliced beef varies by restaurant. Served hot with a cup of au jus. On some type of crustier bread like French or Italian bread or kaiser type roll. Soemthing that won't go totally soggy!!!!!

Thanks for the replies - think we should be ok, so long as when I order I make sure my daughters only has beef and bread on the sandwich and absolutely nothing else!!! the joys of having a picky eater !!!!!

I think they could do with a better description on the website !!
