Has anyone bought a mattress from Bob's Furniture? My husband and I would like to get a new mattress and I have been noticing commercials about the price difference between Bob's and "the other guys". So I was wondering what people who have bought mattresses from Bob's think of them?

A huge waste of money. I bought his top end mattress & it was sagging in 6 years.

We love the "bob o pedic" mattress. We've had it for at least 6-7 yrs and no problems. I miss it when we go away.

Based on my experience with their sofas, I'd stay away. My sofa LOOKS good, but after less than two years, there is very little support left in the bottom cushions. Also, years ago I remember shopping around at Bob's for a mattress, and they were able to give me info on construction and number of coils. Last time I shopped them, before I bought my couch, they would not provide any info on coil count---said it wasn't important. It was important to me, and I figured if they don't want to tell me the info I wanted, they must not want my business too much. I only bought the sofa there becauser at the time I was broke, my old couch was truly pathetic, and I was expecting company for the holidays. The furniture is okay for what it is, which is cheap. If you want quality stuff, Bob's isn't it.

Don't do it!!! We bought furniture and a mattress for my son's room in the spring and had nothing but problems with them!!! Also, after the fact I have read horror stories about their mattresses and bed bugs. Google it. I was so worried about my sons possibly having them. (it doesn't) But the bottom line is their customer service is HORRIBLE. I had to call several times due to delivery problems, items out of stock and it takes about an hour to speak to a live person on the phone. NOT worth saving a few bucks.
Oh, and the mattress smelled AWFUL when it was delivered. Delivery guy insisted it was normal. We left the mattress in front of 2 open windows for 3 days draped with febreeze covered paper towels to lessen the stench.

FWIW, I highly recommend buying a mattress from Costco online. They deliver and set up and if you hate it, they'll come back and pick it up. I just got a 100% latex foam mattress from them and love it.

I like the forums here http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/.

We've had our bobopedic several years and are very happy with it. As a PP said, we miss it when we are gone!

You really do basically get what you pay for imho.
Mattresses are RE tagged from various makers with models/names for each type of retail outlet it's going to. Ever try to exactly match a mid to low range mattress within for example Sears, JC Penney Macy's etc? It's impossible.
I think that store has a "type" of furniture/mattress sales. I would not be saying its the long term Investment type. .. It's okay, having bought 2 rooms full when I knew we'd be moving and needed it for staging within 2 years.
I personally would not buy a mattress there. Quality Sleep is so important to good health and well being and it should be more of an investment piece.. Research what works best for the sleeper/s you are... Do you run warm, roll about a lot or wake when partner leaves bed.. Like to be cocooned or need more firm mattress.
.. Not sure that outlet would have the options for you to choose from adequately. Kwim? If it were just for a sometimes guest room, Different story. It ALL matters what type sleeper u are etc, there's lots of articles if you google. Good luck and happy zzzz's

Invest in a good mattress. You spend at least 1/3 of the day no it so it mind as well be something that is comfortable. We invested in a pranasleep mattress and will never look back.

I have. Do not do it. I purchased their Bobby Bear and it lasted about 3 years. I have a 20 non prorated warrantee, so I called them and it went down hill from there. They will honor the warrantee but they try to charge you tax. No. They call this a credit, but it is not. I had to call the CT Dept of Revenue. I was told that they gets calls about Bob's practices more than any other store in CT.

I do not like it when someone tries to snooker me, and I found out while I was IN THE STORE that they were insisting on charging the tax so I asked for a manager. Nope. They made me call customer service, wait on hold for close to 30 minutes. Those who know me know that this was not a good idea. Lets just say that their phone was close to the popcorn and ice cream.... so lots of people overheard how I had been treated over a defective mattress, and miraculously a manager suddenly was available. I have swapped this mattress out 5 times. FIVE. Each time gets worse. I still have over 10 years. I normally would walk away...as my poor DH prays I would, but they have me so darn mad right now that I have promised them that I will continue to send these "mishaps" back for the rest of the warrantee, and I will then take that "refund", gladly pay the tax on anything I purchase and move on. Honestly, when I was in the store last year the manager could have been the poster child for how not to treat an already irritated customer. Not once has someone there acknowledged that they are doing what their end of the contract says they should. Everyone in management, has insisted they are doing me a favor Except a salesperson, who called me aside and thanked me for taking a stand. He said this is common practice, and it is not okay.

I may calm down, but for now Bob's is the Hill I die on. They are terrible.

Have not purchased a mattress from Bob's but had a couch from there. It lasted about a year before the bottom fell out. Made in China junk. Lesson learned.
We now purchase only from a local family owned furniture store who charges more, stands behind their products, most of their stuff in Made in USA, and their delivery people treat our purchase with care.

I wonder if the people who were happy with their mattress after six years are still happy today after 12 years!

LOL- I ordered a bed frame from Bobs for my daughter but not the mattress- when the guys were delivering it I said "I should have just ordered the mattress at the same time" and the guy shakes his head and says "don't do it, go to a mattress store!"

So how many more times have you invoked the warranty?

I have replaced this thing 5 times. I was ready to just accept the "credit" and move on, but these people got so nasty when I was the store that I I dug my heels in. This was when the sales man pulled me aside and told me that was how they operated. I ended up telling the manager that I intended to keep visiting him until my warranted expired, but I doubt I will. Honestly, if this mattress is "defective" too, then I will probably just go to Sleepy's.

SOmeone on the DIS had posted a warning how this store operates not too long after I had purchased my mattress. That was how I knew about the tax that they added as well as the delivery they try to add on. SHe had replaced hers 3 times before she called it a day.
